Three more world records came down this week in Budapest as part of the 2018 FINA World Cup. Read who broke what records and the other biggest stories of the week in the week that was!<\/span><\/p>\n

The Week That Was #5 – Jack Conger Signs With TYR <\/b><\/h3>\n

2016 Olympian <\/span>Jack Conger <\/b>announced this week that he will sign on with suit company TYR on his Instagram page<\/span><\/a>. Conger will join recent TYR signees <\/span>Simone Manuel<\/b> and <\/span>Katie Ledecky<\/b>, who join a TYR-team that features <\/span>Ryan Lochte, Matt Grevers<\/b>, <\/span>Leah Smith<\/b>, and <\/span>Jacob Pebley<\/b>. Conger was a gold medalist as part of the 4×200 free relay at the 2016 Olympics, and was a silver medalist this summer at the 2018 Pan Pacs behind American <\/span>Caeleb Dressel<\/b>, and is slated to compete in that event next year at the 2019 World Championships in South Korea. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Week That Was #4 – Harvard Diving Coach Placed On Leave For Sexual Misconduct<\/b><\/h3>\n

Harvard diving coach <\/span>Chris Heaton <\/b>was <\/span>placed on leave this week<\/span><\/a> after a class-action lawsuit filed in Indiana court that alleges the 31-year-old solicited nude pictures from female athletes at an Indiana Diving Academy. The suit also alleges that Heaton sent sexually explicit photos of himself to female athletes at the Academy. The lawsuit says allegations were brought to the attention of his superiors in 2015, although their complaints were initially dismissed. Heaton was <\/span>recently hired<\/span><\/a> by Harvard in August. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Week That Was #3 – Sean Hutchison Banned Permanently From USA Swimming<\/b><\/h3>\n

Sean Hutchison<\/b>, the former coach of Olympian <\/span>Ariana Kukors Smith<\/b>, <\/span>was permanently banned by the United States Center for SafeSport this week<\/span><\/a>. The decision came after a thorough investigation of Hutchison by the Center for SafeSport and confirmed allegations that surfaced earlier this year that he had groomed and sexually abused Kukors Smith while coaching her. In a <\/span>suit filed earlier this year<\/span><\/a>, Kukors Smith alleged that Hutchison began grooming her for a sexual relationship at 13 and had a sexual relationship with her from the age of 16 to 24. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Week That Was #2 – Ryan Lochte Enters Rehab For Alcohol Addiction<\/b><\/h3>\n

This week we learned that four-time Olympian <\/span>Ryan Lochte <\/b>will seek treatment for alcohol addiction<\/span><\/a>. According to a report in Yahoo! Sports, Lochte will be seeking out a rehab facility immediately. His lawyer issued a statement to TMZ Sports where he acknowledged Lochte has been battling alcohol addiction for many years and that it is at a point where he needs professional attention. This announcement comes after Lochte was involved in an alcohol-related incident at his hotel in Southern California this week. Lochte has been in the spotlight regarding alcohol use in the past, with the <\/span>infamous gas station incident<\/span><\/a> at the 2016 Rio Olympics resulting in a 10-month suspension for the Olympian. Lochte is <\/span>again currently serving a 10-month suspension<\/span><\/a> for posting a photo of an IV-infusion without a Therapeutic Use Exemption. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Week That Was #1 – More Short Course World Records Tumble In Budapest<\/b><\/h3>\n

The fourth stop of the 2018 FINA World Cup in Budapest produced three more world records this week, the most at any meet so far in the series. China\u2019s <\/span>Wang Jianjiahe <\/b>kicked things off on the first night of finals, smashing <\/span>Mireia Belmonte\u2019s <\/b>old record and <\/span>becoming the first woman under 3:54 in the 400 free<\/span><\/a> with a 3:53.97. Two more records fell on the final night of the meet, with Jamaica\u2019s <\/span>Alia Atkinson <\/b>breaking her own 50 breast world record<\/span><\/a> (28.56) and 38-year-old <\/span>Nicholas Santos <\/b>of Brazil <\/span>moving past the world record in the 50 fly with a 21.75<\/span><\/a>. Also of note was <\/span>Kelsi Dahlia<\/b>, <\/span>who sprinted to the second fastest 100 fly of all-time (54.84)<\/span><\/a>, taking down <\/span>Sarah Sjostrom <\/b>head to head. Dahlia\u2019s time was also a new world cup record and broke her own American record she set last week in Eindhoven.
