Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/h3>\n

Hungary\u2019s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong>, continued her dominance in this event, especially in her home country.<\/p>\n

She won the event in 4:23.5, four seconds ahead of the field.<\/p>\n

Japan\u2019s Yui Ohash<\/strong>i finished second in 4:27.23, ahead of another Hungarian, Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong>, who finished in 4:30.00.<\/p>\n

Spain\u2019s Catalina Corro<\/strong> finished fourth in 4:30.21, followed by Leah Smith<\/strong> of the U.S., who finished in 4:32.84.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 1500 Free<\/h3>\n

Australia\u2019s Horton Mack<\/strong> seized control early in the men\u2019s 1500 and cruised to a victory in 14:39.84.<\/p>\n

He finished eight seconds ahead of the rest of the field.<\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s David Lakatos<\/strong> was second (14:47.74), followed by China\u2019s Qiu Ziao<\/strong> (14:51.98) and Poland\u2019s Wojciech Wojdak<\/strong> (14:54.24).<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 50 Back<\/h3>\n

Michael Andrew<\/strong> of the U.S. got off to a fast start on Friday, winning the 50 back in 23.19.<\/p>\n

He held off Russia\u2019s Vladimir Morozov<\/strong>, who finished second in 23.29.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Mitchell Larkin<\/strong> took third in 23.37, followed by Japan\u2019s Kosuke Matsui<\/strong> (23.69) and Ryosuke<\/strong> Irie<\/strong> (23.73).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 Free<\/h3>\n

Sweden\u2019s Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> hung back in second place for most of the women\u2019s 200 free, but made a late move in the final 50 to secure the victory in 1:51.60.<\/p>\n

Sjostrom\u2019s final 50 split was 28.52.<\/p>\n

Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> of the Netherlands led most of the race and finished second in 1:52.04.<\/p>\n

China\u2019s Wang JianJiahe<\/strong> was third in 1:53.31, followed by Melanie Margalis<\/strong> of the U.S., who finished in 1:53.57.<\/p>\n

Leah Smith<\/strong> finished eighth in 1:57.11.<\/p>\n

Mens 200 IM<\/h3>\n

Australia\u2019s Mitchell Larkin<\/strong>, fresh off of a third-place finish in the 50 back, surged to victory in the 200 IM, winning in 1:52.96.<\/p>\n

He finished well ahead of Hungary\u2019s Laszlo Cseh<\/strong>, who took second in 1:55.05.<\/p>\n

Nic Fink<\/strong> of the U.S. was third in 1:55.10, followed by Hungary\u2019s David Verraszto<\/strong> (1:55.15).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Back<\/h3>\n

Australia\u2019s Emily Seebohm<\/strong> used a back-half surge to race to victory in the 100 back, finishing in 55.81.<\/p>\n

It was enough to hold off Kathleen Baker<\/strong> of the U.S., who finished just being in 56.04.<\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> was third in 56.08, ahead of Great Britain\u2019s Georgia Davies<\/strong> (56.75) and Russia\u2019s Mariia Kameneva<\/strong> (57.27).<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 50 Breast<\/h3>\n

Brazil\u2019s Felipe Lima<\/strong> got off to a quick start and hung on to win the 50 breast in 25.88.<\/p>\n

Slovenia\u2019s Peter Stevens<\/strong> finished second in 26.04, just ahead of Russia\u2019s Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> (26.06).<\/p>\n

Michael Andrew<\/strong> of the U.S. was fourth n 26.30, follow by China\u2019s Wang Lizhuo<\/strong> (26.31) and Nic Fink<\/strong> of the U.S. (26.39). Lizhuo broke his own Chinese record in the event.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 50 Fly<\/h3>\n

Three of the biggest names in women\u2019s swimming went head-to-head in the 50 butterfly and about three tenths of a second is all that separated them.<\/p>\n

Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> touched the wall first to win in 24.65.<\/p>\n

Sweden\u2019s Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> was just behind at 24.82, while Kelsi Dahlia<\/strong> of the U.S. finished third 24.97.<\/p>\n

Maaike de Waard<\/strong> of the Netherlands finished fourth in 25.32.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 100 Free<\/h3>\n

Russia\u2019s Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> used a quick start to hold off Blake Pieroni<\/strong> in the 100 free.<\/p>\n

Morozov finished n 45.30 with each split about a half second ahead of Pieroni, who finished second in 46.25. Pieroni’s time tied the American record for short-course meters in the event, originally set by Ian<\/strong> Crocker<\/strong> in 2004.<\/p>\n

Belgium\u2019s Pieter Timmers<\/strong> was third in 46.67, followed by Russia\u2019s Vladislav Grinev<\/strong> (46.79).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Breast<\/h3>\n

Jamaica\u2019s Alia Atkinson<\/strong> took an early lead in the women\u2019s 100 breast and was able to hold off Russia\u2019s Yulia Efimova<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Atkinson finished first in 1:02.80, while Efimova was second in 1:03.48.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s Vitalina Simonov<\/strong>a finished third in 1:04.67 ahead of Molly Hannis<\/strong> of the U.S., who touched in 1:04.85.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 Fly<\/h3>\n

South Africa\u2019s Chad le Clos<\/strong> opened an early lead and kept it the entire race to win the 200 butterfly.<\/p>\n

He finished in 1:50.29.<\/p>\n

Japan\u2019s Daiya Seto<\/strong> was second in 1:51.01, while compatriot Yuya Yajima<\/strong> was third (1;51.80).<\/p>\n

A trio of Hungarians followed with Laszlo Cseh<\/strong> taking fourth in 1:53.25, followed by Bence Biczo<\/strong> (1:53.83) and David Verraszto<\/strong> (1:54.06).<\/p>\n

Mixed 4×50 Free Relay<\/h3>\n

The Netherlands claimed a narrow victory in the mixed 4×50 free relay.<\/p>\n

Jesse Puts, Ben Schwietert, Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> and Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> finished in 1:30.01.<\/p>\n

The U.S. finished just behind as Michael Andrew, Blake Pieroni, Kathleen Baker<\/strong> and Kelsi Dahlia<\/strong> clocked a 1:30.63.<\/p>\n
