NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Cornell University has received a verbal pledge from Charlotte, North Carolina’s\u00a0Lexie Handlin<\/strong> who will arrive on campus as a member of the class of 2023.<\/p>\n

Handlin swims year-round with SwimMAC Carolina and has the Winter Juniors qualifying standard in the 200 back. She concluded her summer season with a trio of second swims at NC LCM Seniors and raced three events at Cary Futures. She achieved seven lifetime bests at NC SCY Seniors in February and placed fifth in the 200 back at Greensboro Speedo Sectionals in March.<\/p>\n

Handlin also swims for Ardrey Kell and has raced at the NCHSAA 4A State Championships each of her three high school seasons so far. During her junior season, she placed seventh in the 100 back and tenth in the 200 free after recording a runner-up finish in the former at 4A West Regionals.<\/p>\n

She told\u00a0Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n

“I chose Cornell because I walked on campus and felt right at home. Cornell has a team that will challenge me to be my best in the water and in the classroom, and that was exactly what I was looking for. The coaches and the athletes made me feel like I was already a part of the team, and I fell in love with the campus!”<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
