He most recently competed at the NCSA Championships this summer where he recorded eight lifetime bests and won the 200m fly (1:59.62) en route to breaking the four-year-old meet record at finals. He had a trio of top-5 finished at NCSAs in March en route to posting four personal bests.<\/p>\n<p>Also representing Good Counsel High School,\u00a0Vipavetz is a six-time\u00a0Washington Metropolitan Prep School Championship finalist.\u00a0The NISCA All-American\u00a0won the 200 free and 500 free at the meet as a junior after placing third in both of those events as a sophomore.<\/p>\n<p>He told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #c20606;\"><strong>&#8220;I chose Virginia Tech because of the superior coaching staff members, such as Coach Sergio Lopez and Coach Josh Huger, who have made me feel that Virginia Tech is a new home. \u00a0In addition, the team has one of the best cultures I have see; their inclusiveness is one of a kind. \u00a0Not only is the team on the path to greatness, but so are my academics at such a school. I am super excited to become a Hokie!&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 fly &#8211; 50.45<\/li>\n<li>200 fly &#8211; 1:46.65<\/li>\n<li>200 free &#8211; 1:39.14<\/li>\n<li>500 free &#8211; 4:22.45<\/li>\n<li>1000 free &#8211; 9:05.09<\/li>\n<li>1650 free &#8211; 15:23.84<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Vipavetz is a huge pickup for the Hokies and will make an immediate impact when he arrives in Blacksburg for the 2019-20 season. His best 500, 1000 and mile would&#8217;ve ranked third on their lineup last season while his 200 fly would&#8217;ve sat in second.
