JUST because we&#039;re now in the year after the Olympics doesn&#039;t mean we won&#039;t see some fast swimming. The FINA world championships begins in about 28 weeks, and some of the biggest stars from the Olympics are bound to be there in an effort to reclaim the glory they found in London.<\/p>\n<p>In our last poll, we asked you to tell us which of the four individual female world records that were broken in 2012 is most likely to be broken in 2013. By an overwhelming margin, 63.16 percent to be exact, Missy Franklin&#039;s 200 backstroke record of 2:04.06 is the one voters believe is going to be broken. With Franklin about two seconds ahead of the rest of the world in the event, it&#039;s likely that she&#039;s going to be the only one to challenge that time, and possibly put the record in the 2:03 range.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the voting was pretty tight, with Ye Shiwen&#039;s 400 IM world record of 4:28.43 coming in second with 16.37 percent, Rebecca Soni&#039;s 2:19.59 in the 200 breast third with 10.53 percent and Dana Vollmer&#039;s 55.98 in the 100 fly fourth with 9.98 percent.<\/p>\n<p>We&#039;re looking ahead to September for our new poll question, specifically the announcement of the host of the 2020 Olympic Games. Three cities are in the running, and we wanted to know which of the three would be the best host. Would Istanbul, Turkey, be the best city, giving the Olympics its first appearance in a Middle Eastern country? Would Madrid be a better choice, bringing the Olympics back to Spain for the first time since 1992? Or should it be Tokyo, which last hosted the Olympics in 1964?
