The first day of the World Cup already saw a world record from\u00a0<strong>Vlad Morozov<\/strong>, and he is back in the water for day two along with some of the world\u2019s top swimmers like\u00a0<strong>Sarah Sjostrom, Katinka Hosszu, Michael Andrew, Kathleen Baker, Ranomi Komowidjojo, Chad le Clos<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Blake Pieroni.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australian\u00a0<strong>Mitch Larkin\u00a0<\/strong>opened the session as the fastest qualifier in the men&#8217;s 50 backstroke, touching is 23.95 to just edge out\u00a0<strong>Ryosuke Irie\u00a0<\/strong>by .02. These two had a similar set up in the 200 back yesterday, where Larkin and Irie ended up battling way ahead of the field in finals last night.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Femke Heemskerk\u00a0<\/strong>took the top seed in the women&#8217;s 200 free over Sjostrom, 1:53.69 to 1:53.90. Also in that field will be third seed and new world junior record holder\u00a0<strong>Wang Jianjiahe\u00a0<\/strong>and Heemskerk&#8217;s teammate\u00a0<strong>Ranomi Kromowidjojo.\u00a0<\/strong>Two Americans,\u00a0<strong>Melanie Margalis\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Leah Smith,\u00a0<\/strong>will also be in the final tonight.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 100 back saw <strong>Kira Toussaint<\/strong>,\u00a0another swimmer from the Netherlands, take this top seed in 56.28. That just edged out world record holder\u00a0<strong>Katinka Hosszu\u00a0<\/strong>(56.59) and was more than a second ahead of long course world record holder\u00a0<strong>Kathleen Baker\u00a0<\/strong>(57.45). Also in the mix will be Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Emily Seebohm\u00a0<\/strong>(57.58).<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom did return shortly after the 200 free to grab the top seed in the women&#8217;s 50 fly, taking the top seed in 25.31. World record holder and world cup record holder\u00a0<strong>Alia Atkinson\u00a0<\/strong>was the fastest out of the heats of the women&#8217;s 100 breast, touching in 1:05.74 ahead of\u00a0<strong>Molly Hannis\u00a0<\/strong>(1:05.89) and\u00a0<strong>Yulia Efimova\u00a0<\/strong>(1:06.03).<\/p>\n<p>Blake Pieroni\u00a0will be in the middle of the pool for the men&#8217;s 100 free tonight after leading all qualifiers in 46.84. Qualifying third was Morozov, who set a world record last night in the 100 IM before grabbing gold in the 50 free, so he should be dangerous tonight.<\/p>\n<p>Other top seeds include\u00a0<strong>Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>in the men&#8217;s 200 IM,\u00a0<strong>Peter Stevens\u00a0<\/strong>in the men&#8217;s 50 breast, and\u00a0<strong>Maarten Brzoskowski\u00a0<\/strong>in the men&#8217;s 200 fly.
