NEW COMMIT:\u00a0<\/strong>Virginia Tech is building a strong recruiting class for fall of 2019 and just added another:\u00a0Jenna Thompson\u00a0<\/strong>of Newport News, Va. has verbally committed to the Hokies.<\/p>\n

Thompson will join Sophia Ryan<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Hannah Jirsa<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Brooke Travis<\/strong><\/a>,\u00a0Hannah Virgin<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0Morgan Miller<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Ashley Worden<\/a>, Shelby Raber<\/a><\/strong> and Rose Pouch<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as members of the Hokie class of 2023.<\/p>\n

Thompson does her club swimming with 757 Swim and achieved her first U.S. Open cut this summer in the 100m breast at the VA Senior LCM Championships en route to being crowned champion in the event. She also raced at Junior Nationals this summer and achieved two best times at Juniors East last December where she finaled in the 200 breast.<\/p>\n

Primarily a breaststroker, Thompson is also a strong IMer and mid-distance freestyler.\u00a0She represents Menchville High School and is a six-time VHSL 5A State Championships finalist.\u00a0She finished fifth in the 100 breast and 13th in the 200 IM as a junior after placing fifth in both the 100 breast and 500 free during her sophomore season.<\/p>\n
