He capped off his long course season at Junior Nationals with four lifetime bests after a strong showing at the TYR Pro Swim Series &#8211; Columbus. At ISCA Junior Nationals in March, he won the 1000 free (9:19.81) and was the runner-up in the mile (15:47.56).<\/p>\n<p>At the Ohio State Championships as a junior, he finished eighth in the 500 free (4:43.00) and 14th in the 200 free (1:43.02) to help Saint Xavier High School win their tenth-straight OHSAA title.\u00a0Wheeler has continuously gotten faster each season, shaving 37 seconds off his mile, ten from his 1000 and 11 off his 500 over the past two years.<\/p>\n<p>He told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>\u201cI\u2019m excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Auburn University! With the amazing coaches and team, I knew it was the perfect fit for me. I\u2019d like to thank God, my family, and friends for helping me along the way. War Eagle!!&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>200 free &#8211; 1:41.55<\/li>\n<li>500 free &#8211; 4:32.04<\/li>\n<li>1000 free &#8211; 9:19.81<\/li>\n<li>1650 free &#8211; 15:45.62<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Wheeler will make for a great addition in Auburn&#8217;s distance group when he arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season.
