JACQUELINE Freney, the eight-time gold medalist at the London Paralympics, may soon come face to face with herself in wax. The Australian Paralympic swimmer is currently in the running to have her likeness sculpted into a wax figurine at Madame Tussauds Sydney, <a href= http:\/\/www.insidethegames.biz\/paralympics\/summer-sports\/swimming\/1012243-freney-in-running-to-be-immortalised-in-wax-at-madame-tussauds target=_blank> as reported by Inside the Games. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is the first time the Australian public has the opportunity to cast their vote on which sports superstar they wish to see memorialized in wax. Freney&#039;s countryman, Ian Thorpe, who is arguably Australia&#039;s most famous and successful Olympic swimmer, already has a body double in the museum.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am very flattered and excited to be recognized as an Australian sporting hero that could be immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds Sydney,&#8221; Freney said.<\/p>\n<p>Freney was named <i>Swimming World Magazine&#039;s <\/i> Disabled Swimmer of the Year for 2012, after winning a Phelpsian eight gold medals at the Summer Paralympic Games. <\/p>\n<p>Freney is currently up against former rugby players Wally Lewis and John Eales, basketball player Lauren Jackson, surfer Mick Fanning and cricket player Glenn McGrath.
