At the College Station Speedo Sectionals in March, he finished fourth in the 500 free (4:26.20) and recorded three lifetime bests. He finished sixth overall in the 500 free (4:23.70) at Speedo Juniors West last December.<\/p>\n<p>Coakley also represents Seven Lakes High School where he is a three-time Texas 6A State Championship finalist.\u00a0As a junior, he finished third in the 200 free (1:39.50) and fifth in the 500 free (4:30.94) after placing 15th in the 500 (4:37.81) as a sophomore.<\/p>\n<p>He told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #871a1a;\"><strong>&#8220;I\u2019m excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my education and swimming career at Texas A&amp;M! I could not be more thankful for my family, my friends, and my coaches who helped me along the way! With the wonderful programs and amazing coaching staff, I cannot wait to become an Aggie! Gig\u2019em\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>His best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>100 free &#8211; 46.73<\/li>\n<li>200 free &#8211; 1:38.27<\/li>\n<li>500 free &#8211; 4:23.70<\/li>\n<li>1000 free &#8211; 9:17.52<\/li>\n<li>1650 free &#8211; 15:41.84<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>His coach, <strong>Travis Sandifer<\/strong>, told us:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #871a1a;\"><strong>&#8220;Great young man that will thrive at Texas AM.\u00a0 He has a dedication to be the best he can be and help his team be the best it can be.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Coakley will provide valuable depth to the Aggies&#8217; freestyle lineup when he arrives on campus as a member of the class of 2023.\u00a0His current fastest 500 free time sits just outside scoring range at the 2018 SEC Championships where the Aggies finished second in the team standings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW COMMIT:\u00a0Katy, Texas native William Coakley\u00a0has announced his intention to stay in-state and swim for the Texas A&amp;M Aggies beginning in the fall of 2019.
