OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma, December 16. ALTHOUGH full results are difficult to come by, Swimming World<\/i> does have some information that Stanford volunteer coach Eugene Godsoe has been tuning up the backstroke events the past two nights at the Chesapeake Elite Pro-Am.<\/p>\n
First, Godsoe trucked the 100-yard backstroke with a sterling time of 44.75 on Saturday night. That performance puts him fourth fastest in the event according to USA Swimming. Matt Grevers (44.55), Ryan Lochte (44.60) and Ben Hesen (44.72) each have faster times on record at USA Swimming.<\/p>\n
This evening, Godsoe also turned in a 20.78 in the 50-yard backstroke, which is the second-fastest sprint backstroke on record at USA Swimming. Albert Subirats has a 20.73 200-yard medley relay leadoff from the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Championships, while Jared White (20.97) and Kyle Owens (20.98) also have sub-21 second performances. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Godsoe blasted the 200-yard back this evening as well with a 1:38.21 that ranks him fourth all time in the event. Lochte (1:36.81), Tyler Clary (1:37.58) and Ryan Murphy (1:38.15) are the only swimmers with faster times on record. <\/p>\n
While Sunday night results are unavailable at this time, some of Saturday night's swims are now public. ASK's Dagny Knutson won the women's 200-yard IM in 1:59.28, while Tucson Ford's Darian Townsend won his third title of the meet with a 1:43.93 in the 200 IM. <\/p>\n
California's Liv Jensen turned in a 22.03 to claim the women's 50 free, while Schroeder's Steve Cebertowicz posted a 19.69 to win the men's 50 free. Minnesota's Jillian Tyler clipped Megan Jendrick in the women's 200 breast, 2:12.87 to 2:13.07, while California's Sean Mahoney won the men's 200 breast in 1:53.46. Anika Apostalon touched in 53.63 to win the women's 100 back.<\/p>\n
Minnesota's Ashley Steenvoorden cruised to victory in the women's 500 free with a 4:43.81, while Mission Viejo's Janardan Burns clocked a 4:26.29 to win the men's 500 free. Mission Viejo's Jacquelyn Shoults, Elizabeth Devitt, Kathryn McLaughlin and Brooke Lorentzen turned in a 3:50.77 for the women's 400 medley relay victory, while KC Blazer's Ben Scheffer, Isaac Powell, Ryan Sweat and Zach Holbrook claimed the men's 400 medley relay in 3:27.51.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
