IN addition to naming the World and Regional Swimmers of the Year, every December <i> Swimming World Magazine <\/i> honors the male and female Disabled Swimmer of the Year. The 2012 male and female Disabled Swimmers of the Year both hail from down under: Australia&#039;s Jacqueline Freney takes the honors for the women, while Matthew Cowdrey takes it for the men. <\/p>\n<p>Freney wins the title of <i>Swimming World Magazine&#039;s<\/i> female Disabled Swimmer of the Year for women after she won a remarkable eight gold medals at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. Cowdrey wins the title for the men by topping the medal charts in the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games.
