According to an online report that appeared\u00a0News4Jax.com\u00a0<\/em>Jon Sakovich\u00a0<\/strong>will be stepping down as the head coach of the Bolles School at the end of the year.<\/p>\n

Sakovich has been involved with the Bolles team since 2000, and he took over for former head coach\u00a0Sergio Lopez\u00a0<\/strong>in 2015<\/a> when he left for the opportunity to coach in Singapore. Prior to that, Sakovich had been a fixture in the Florida swimming scene, beginning with his All-American career at the University of Florida. He has also coached at Gainesville’s Florida Aquatics as well as the head coach of Clearwater Aquatics.<\/p>\n

During his time at Bolles, the school has helped develop swimmers who have gone on to national and international success, including\u00a0Ryan Murphy<\/strong>,\u00a0Joseph Schooling<\/strong>,\u00a0and\u00a0Caeleb Dressel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The report featured an email sent from Bolles President and Head of School\u00a0Tyler Hodges<\/strong>\u00a0to parents and alumni, where he wishes Sakovich luck in future endeavors and said that a national search for a new coach will begin immediately. You can see the entire email below:<\/p>\n

“The Bolles School Swimming program has an impressive and lengthy history of success and we are confident this success will continue. To date, The Bolles boys’ and girls’ swimming and diving teams have reached a combined total of 14 national titles and 70 state championships. Fifty-nine Bolles students, alumni or Sharks have participated in every Olympics since 1972, representing 28 countries and claiming 20 medals.<\/p>\n

“A comprehensive national search will immediately begin for a new Head Coach and Aquatics Director. If you know of someone who may be interested in this position, please direct them to the Career Center on the Bolles website. This search will be a top priority in the coming weeks and we will offer updates to the community as we navigate this process. In the meantime, I know our Bolles community will celebrate the many successes Jon has achieved and wish him and his wife, Angele \u2014 along with their three children John ’16, Joseph ’21 and daughter Avyree \u2014 much luck and happiness as they look toward the future.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
