The FINA Swimming World Cup kicked off with the second day of stop one in Kazan, Russia.<\/p>\n

Some of the world\u2019s biggest names in swimming were competing, many in multiple events.<\/p>\n

DAY 2 RESULTS<\/a><\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 400 IM<\/h3>\n

Hungary\u2019s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> picked up where she left off after Day 1 and dominated the first race of Day 2, crushing the field by 10 seconds to win the 400 IM.<\/p>\n

Hosszu finished in 4:37.92, well ahead of second-place Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong>, who finished 10 seconds behind in4:47.93.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s Irina Krivonogova<\/strong> was third in 4:51.73.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 1500 Free<\/h3>\n

Russia dominated the men\u2019s 1500 free, going 1-2 in the event.<\/p>\n

Iaroslav Potapov<\/strong> made a move early and hung on to win in 15:27.92. Compatriot Ilia Druzhinin<\/strong> finished second in 15:34.53.<\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s Daniel Dudas<\/strong> hung with the Russian leaders as long as he could and finished third in 15:36.67.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 50 Back<\/h3>\n

Make it 2-for-2 for Vladimir Morozov<\/strong>. After setting the World Cup record in the 50 free on Friday, he added another World Cup record in the 50 backstroke.<\/p>\n

Morozov, from Russia, won the event in 24.43 to break the World Cup record of 24.58, set by David Plummer<\/strong> of the U.S. in 2015.<\/p>\n

Michael Andrew<\/strong> of the U.S. finished second in 24.49, also going faster than the previous record set by Plummer.<\/p>\n

Australia\u2019s Mitch Larkin<\/strong> took third in 25.35, followed by Jesse Puts<\/strong> of the Netherlands (25.45).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 200 Free<\/h3>\n

Sweden\u2019s Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong> picked up another World Cup victory on Saturday, winning the 200 free.<\/p>\n

Sjostrom led from the opening turn and cruised to victory in 1:55.98.<\/p>\n

Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> of the Netherlands was second in 1:56.89, the only other competitor to break 2 minutes.<\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong>, coming off of a win in the 400 IM a half hour earlier, finished third in 2:00.27.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 IM<\/h3>\n

Australia\u2019s Mitch Larkin<\/strong>, just minutes removed from finishing third in the 50 back, reached the top podium in the 200 IM.<\/p>\n

Larkin won the event in 1:59.47, the only man in the field to break 2 minutes.<\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s David Verraszto<\/strong> finished second in 2:01.40, while Nikolay Sokolov<\/strong> finished third in 2:03.33.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Back<\/h3>\n

Kira Toussaint<\/strong> earned another World Cup victory on Saturday. The only woman to break a minute, the swimmer from the Netherlands won the 100 back in 59.80.<\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s Katinka Hosszu<\/strong>, swimming her third event of the day, finished second in 1:00.77.<\/p>\n

Tatiana Salcutan<\/strong> finished third (1:01.66), just a hundredth of a second ahead of Irina Prikhodko<\/strong> (1:01.67).<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 50 Breast<\/h3>\n

Brazil\u2019s Felipe Lima<\/strong> was the only swimmer int he field to break 27 seconds in the 50 breast. He cruised to victory in 26.90 \u2014\u00a016 hundredths away from the World Cup record.<\/p>\n

Kirill Prigoda<\/strong> finished second in 27.24, followed closely by Michael Andrew<\/strong> in 27.30 and Oleg Kostin<\/strong> in 27.50.<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 50 Fly<\/h3>\n

Make that two World Cup records for Sweden\u2019s Sarah Sjostrom<\/strong>, too.<\/p>\n

After watching Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> claim his second World Cup record of the meet, Sjostrom crushed the field and the previous record in the 50 fly.<\/p>\n

Sjostrom, who won the 200 free earlier in the day, won the 50 fly in 25.39, beating the old World Cup record set by Denmark\u2019s Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong> in 2015 (25.51).<\/p>\n

Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> of the Netherlands had a strong race, too, finishing second in 26.09.<\/p>\n

Belgium\u2019s Kimberly Buys<\/strong> was third in 26.11, holding off Russia\u2019s Mariia Kameneva<\/strong> (26.22).<\/p>\n

Hosszu, swimming in her fourth event of the day, finished eighth in 27.95.<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 100 Free<\/h3>\n

Russia\u2019s Vladimir Morozov<\/strong> earned his second victory of the day, holding off Blake Pieroni<\/strong> to win the 100 free.<\/p>\n

Morozov trailed Pieroni at the turn, but used a second-half surge to take the victory in 48.26.<\/p>\n

Pieroni was just four hundredths of a second back at 48.30.<\/p>\n

Belgium\u2019s Pieter Timmers<\/strong> was third at 49.22, ahead of Kyle Stolk<\/strong> of the Netherlands (49.74) and South Africa\u2019s Ryan<\/strong> Coetzee<\/strong> (49.88).<\/p>\n

Women\u2019s 100 Breast<\/h3>\n

A third World Cup record for the day was nearly achieved as Yulia Efimova<\/strong> won the 100 breast in 1:05.94.<\/p>\n

Her time was just one hundredth of a second away from Alia Atikinson<\/strong>\u2019s World Cup Record set in 2015.<\/p>\n

Eflimova led a 1-2-3-4 Russian sweep in the event. Vitalina Simonova<\/strong> was second in 1:07.56, followed by Daria<\/strong> Chikunova<\/strong> (1:07.68) and Natalia Ivaneeva<\/strong> (1:08.47).<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s 200 Fly<\/h3>\n

South Africa\u2019s Chad le Clos<\/strong> used a late surge to hold off Russia\u2019s Daniil Pakhomov<\/strong> in the 200 fly.<\/p>\n

The two were tied at the first turn at 25.57. Pakhomov was ahead at the 100 and 150, but le Clos split a 29.61 in the final 50 to edge Pakhomov, who split a 30.65.<\/p>\n

It was a final time of 1:56.58 for le Clos, while Pakhomov was second in 1:56.90.<\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s David Verraszto<\/strong> was third in 1:59.03.<\/p>\n

Mixed 4×100 Free Relay<\/h3>\n

The Netherlands finished Day 2 on a high note, winning the mixed 4×100 free relay.<\/p>\n

Kyle Stolk, Jesse Puts, Femke Heemskerk<\/strong> and Ranomi Kromowidjojo<\/strong> finished in 3:27.42.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s Vladimir Morozov, Daniil Markov, Mariia Kameneva<\/strong> and Elizaveta Klevanovich<\/strong> finished second in 3:30.94.<\/p>\n

Hungary\u2019s Daniel Dudas, David Verraszto, Zsuzsanna Jakabos<\/strong> and Katinka Hosszu<\/strong> finished third in 3:36.21.<\/p>\n
