He also just missed American <strong>David Plummer&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>World Cup record of 24.58 from 2015, and will definitely be eyeing that tonight. Andrew\u00a0was the only swimmer in the field under 25 seconds, with Morozov qualifying second in 25.02.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the lineup it was a relatively quiet women&#8217;s 200 free, with\u00a0<strong>Femke Heemskerk\u00a0<\/strong>grabbing the top seed in 2:00.48 just ahead of powerhouses Sjostrom (2:00.49) and\u00a0<strong>Katinka Hosszu\u00a0<\/strong>(2:02.47), setting up what should be a competitive final tonight. Hosszu was back in the pool shortly after in the 100 back, grabbing the second seed for tonight in 1:01.35, just behind\u00a0<strong>Kira Toussaint\u00a0<\/strong>(1:01.18).<\/p>\n<p>Michael Andrew grabbed his second top seed of the morning in the men&#8217;s 50 breast, posting a 27.03 that was less than two tenths off of his best. He goes into tonight as the top seed by about three-tenths ahead of\u00a0<strong>Felipe Lima<\/strong>, who was second in last night&#8217;s 100 breast.<\/p>\n<p>Sjostrom took the top seed in the 50 butterfly in 25.76, the only swimmer under 26 seconds and within striking distance of\u00a0<strong>Jeanette Ottesen&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>World Cup record (25.51) from 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blake<\/strong> <strong>Pieroni<\/strong>, the only other American competing in Kazan, took the top seed in the men&#8217;s 100 free in 49.01, just ahead of Vlad Morozov (49.38). Russian\u00a0<strong>Yulia Efimova\u00a0<\/strong>took the #1 seed in the 100 breast (1:08.04), with three of her Russian teammates just behind including last night&#8217;s 200 breast champion\u00a0<strong>Vitalina Simonova\u00a0<\/strong>(1:08.54).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a fast first night of finals at the 2018 FINA World Cup in
