{"id":328067,"date":"2018-09-07T09:49:20","date_gmt":"2018-09-07T16:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=328067"},"modified":"2018-09-07T09:49:20","modified_gmt":"2018-09-07T16:49:20","slug":"michael-brinegar-wins-10k-at-fina-world-junior-open-water-swimming-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/michael-brinegar-wins-10k-at-fina-world-junior-open-water-swimming-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"Michael Brinegar Wins 10K At FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships continued with the women\u2019s 18-19 10K race as well as the men\u2019s 18-19 10K.<\/p>\n<p>In the men\u2019s 18-19 age group 10K, U.S. swimmer <strong>Michael Brinegar<\/strong> won the gold in 1:49:55.5 barely holding off <strong>Enzo<\/strong> <strong>Roldan Munoz<\/strong> of France, who was second in 1:49:55.7.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kirill Dolgov<\/strong> of Russia wasn\u2019t far behind, winning the bronze in 1:50:00.04.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s 18-19 age group 10K, <strong>Paula Ruiz Bravo<\/strong> of Spain took the gold medal in one hour and 57 minutes and 21.9 seconds. <strong>Maria Bramont-Arias<\/strong> of Peru was second in 1:57:24.2 and <strong>Reka Romacs<\/strong> of Hungary was third in 1:57:26.3.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. swimmers <strong>Erica Sullivan<\/strong> (1:57.44.6) and <strong>Kensey McMahon<\/strong> (1:57.47.4) were fifth and sixth, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s <strong>Kate Sanderson<\/strong> took eighth spot in the women\u2019s 18-19 age group.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was good, I had fun and I learned a lot,&#8221; the U.S. based Sanderson told Swimming Canada. &#8220;It was an aggressive race which put me in a lot of tactical situations. I know now I can compete at this level and handle that much pain in a race.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Competition ends Saturday with the team relays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The FINA World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships continued with the women\u2019s 18-19 10K race as well as the men\u2019s 18-19 10K.
