The two-time U.S. Open qualifier is coming off a successful long course season, where she posted a runner-up finish in the 200 back (2:16.72) at the YMCA Long Course National Championships while notching six new personal bests. She also recorded a pair of top-eight finishes in the 100 back (53.85) and 200 back (1:59.36) at the YMCA Short Course National Championships back in April.<\/p>\n<p>Also representing Seven Hills Upper High School, Shuppert took second in the 100 back (54.54) and eighth in the 200 IM (2:08.54) at the 2018 OHSAA Division 2 Championships in February. The NISCA All-American also finished third in the 100 back (56.17) and sixth in the 200 IM (2:08.15) during her sophomore season.<\/p>\n<p>She told <em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>&#8220;I\u2019m proud to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming careers at Duke University in the class of 2023! I would like to thank my coaches, family, and friends for always supporting me. I am so grateful to Coach Colella for this incredible opportunity. Go Duke!!!&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 back \u2013 24.85<\/li>\n<li>100 back \u2013 53.85<\/li>\n<li>200 back \u2013 1:59.36<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Shuppert will make a big splash with the Blue Devils when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season, adding valuable depth to their backstroke group and medley relays. Her top 50 back time would have ranked her second on the team last season, while her 100 back would\u2019ve been the third fastest.
