She will join the Bruins as part of the class of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Rhee competes for La Costa Canyon High School where she is a six-time CIF San Diego Section 2 Champion, winning both the 50 free and 200 free in each of her high school seasons thus far.\u00a0The NISCA and USA Swimming All-American recorded lifetime bests in the 50 free (23.05) and 200 free (1:47.47) during her junior campaign.<\/p>\n<p>She also swims year-round with her club team,\u00a0Rancho San Dieguito, where she is a three-time U.S. Open qualifier. Rhee is coming off a successful long course season where she finished seventh in the 50m free (26.11) while notching four new personal best times. She also raced to fourth in the 200m free (2:04.29) at the Speedo Champions Series in Santa Clara.<\/p>\n<p>She told\u00a0<em>Swimming World:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>\u201cUCLA is a perfect fit for me as both a student and as an athlete. The environment is perfect for the career I want to pursue as a student-athlete and I am looking forward to be working with the coaching staff and to be apart [sic] of the UCLA family. I would have never gotten here without the support of my family, friends, coaches, and my RSD family!! GO BRUINS!!\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Her best times include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 free &#8211; 23.05<\/li>\n<li>100 free &#8211; 50.36<\/li>\n<li>200 free &#8211; 1:47.47<\/li>\n<li>500 free &#8211; 4:50.44<\/li>\n<li>100 breast &#8211; 1:03.16<\/li>\n<li>200 breast &#8211; 2:17.17<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rhee&#8217;s versatile talents will be greatly valued when she arrives on campus for the 2019-20 season and could fill a number of different roles.\u00a0She&#8217;ll suit up for the Bruins following the graduation of\u00a0<strong>Sandra Soe <\/strong>and\u00a0will have one season to train with\u00a0<strong>Kenisha Liu<\/strong>, <strong>Amy Okada<\/strong> and <strong>Lisa Kaunitz.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW COMMIT:\u00a0San Diego, Calif. native Rachel Rhee\u00a0has announced her verbal commitment to stay in-state and swim for\u00a0UCLA.
