Japan and China tied atop the leaderboard with 19 gold medals apiece while Japan won 52 total medals to China&#8217;s 50.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rikako Ikee\u00a0<\/strong>of Japan and\u00a0<strong>Kim Seoyeong\u00a0<\/strong>of South Korea each broke Games Records on night six in Jakarta and China&#8217;s 4&#215;100 medley relay swam the fastest time in the world for 2018, beating out the Americans and British from earlier in the summer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.asiangames2018.id\/sport\/swimming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 50 Free<\/h3>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Rikako Ikee\u00a0<\/strong>may have clinched herself swimmer of the meet honors by taking down world record holder <strong>Liu Xiang<\/strong>\u00a0of China\u00a0in the 50 free final.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Ikee swam a 24.53 to win her sixth gold medal of the meet and eighth medal overall. Koseki swam a 27.07, slightly slower than\u00a0<strong>Yan Zibei&#8217;s\u00a0<\/strong>Games Record of 27.06 from the prelims.<\/p>\n<p>Koseki already won gold medals this week in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/yasuhiro-koseki-swims-third-fastest-100-breast-of-summer-for-new-games-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">100<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/yasuhiro-koseki-holds-off-ippei-watanabe-by-0-01-in-200-breast-final\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">200 breast<\/a>, and he just completed the hat trick with a gold here in the 50.<\/p>\n<p>Koseki is also the first Japanese swimmer to win the 50 breast at the Asian Games. Wang already claimed gold medals this week in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/wang-jianjiahe-breaks-800-free-games-record-li-bingjie-second\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">800<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/wang-jianjiahe-holds-off-li-bingjie-for-inaugural-1500-free-title-at-asian-games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1500 free<\/a> finals and she won her fourth gold medal of the meet in the 400, adding to her gold in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/china-breaks-games-record-in-4x200-free-relay-to-close-night-three\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">4&#215;200 free relay<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Wang finished three full seconds ahead of teammate\u00a0<strong>Li Bingjie\u00a0<\/strong>(4:06.46) who won the silver medal. Li was well off her 4:01 she swam last summer that still stands as the Asian Record. Both Wang and Li are 16-years-old.<\/p>\n<p>Wang moved up to third in this year&#8217;s Virtual World Championships after all the major international meets this summer. Sun is well off his Games Record of 14:35 from 2010, and even further from his world record of 14:31 from 2012. Sun is 26, and with the addition of the 800 to the Olympic schedule,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sun-yang-aims-for-inaugural-800-free-gold-in-tokyo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sun has hinted<\/a>\u00a0at dropping the 1500 for the 800 by 2020.<\/p>\n<p>He was in a race with Vietnam&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Huy Nguyen<\/strong>, but Sun pulled away for the gold. Nguyen will get the silver at 15:01.63, winning Vietnam&#8217;s third medal in swimming at the Asian Games, and their first silver. Kim finished ahead of\u00a0<strong>Yui Ohashi\u00a0<\/strong>of Japan who was the silver medalist at 2:08.88. Ohashi swam faster at Pan Pacs with a 2:08.16, so she will hold on to the &#8220;virtual gold medal&#8221; from the Virtual World Championships.<\/p>\n<p>Ohashi and Kim were the only swimmers to break 2:09 at a major meet this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Miho Teramura\u00a0<\/strong>won the bronze medal with a 2:10.98 as she added a second from her Pan Pac time that was a 2:09.86 earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Zhou Min\u00a0<\/strong>(2:11.42) finished off the podium in fourth place.<\/p>\n<p>Kim is the first Korean gold medalist in this event since 1982 when\u00a0<strong>Choi Yun-Hui\u00a0<\/strong>won the gold medal.
