Three-time Olympian\u00a0Dana Vollmer\u00a0<\/strong>has been very vocal about\u00a0her intent<\/a> to swim for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Vollmer made the 2016 Olympic Team after becoming a mother earlier in the Olympic quad.<\/p>\n

Vollmer was the 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the 100 fly where she broke the world record. She “never did retire<\/a>” after placing third at the 2013 World Championships in the 100 fly. She came back to swimming in the summer of 2015<\/a>\u00a0and made the 2016 Olympic Team<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She gave birth to her second child<\/a> in July 2017, and has since stated she is on another comeback to make the 2020 Olympic Team. If she were to make her fourth team, she would be the fourth American woman to make four teams after\u00a0Jenny Thompson<\/strong>,\u00a0Amanda Beard\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Dara Torres\u00a0<\/strong>made at least four. Torres swam on five Olympic teams in her career.<\/p>\n

On Thursday via Instagram, Vollmer announced she again was training for 2020, but this time would be joined by three-time Danish Olympian\u00a0Jeanette Ottesen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
