SWIMMING Australia is conducting a new review to go alongside its current review of performances at the London Olympics. This new review will look at the operation and culture of the sport in Australia at the elite level, and will be released in February, according to the organization. Swimming Australia&#039;s new president, Barclay Nettlefold, appointed consultants at Bluestone Edge to complete the review. Bluestone has done similar reviews of other sports in the past, and will be headed by sports psychologist Pippa Grange.<\/p>\n<p>Olympic medalist David Davies announced his retirement today, but he won&#039;t be completely leaving the sport. Davies will help younger swimmers in his native Wales to succeed at high levels in the sport, which he did in winning a bronze medal in the 1500 free at the 2004 Olympics, and silver in the 10K swim at the 2008 Games. He became the first swimmer to win medals in pool and open water swimming and has a fine distinction of winning medals in the 1500 freestyle in every major international competition, from the Olympics to the European championships.
