BERKELEY, Calif. Jan. 17. THE No. 7-ranked California men's swim team (3-1) defeated Pacific (8-10), 121-77, Monday afternoon at Spieker Aquatics Complex. The Bears won all of the meet's 11 events, although Cal swam the last two events – the 200 breast and 200 free relay – as exhibitions. <\/p>\n
Individual winners for the Bears included senior George Wilkinson in the 1000 free (9:29.05), senior Matt Macedo in the 200 free (1:39.72), freshman Duje Draganja in the 50 free (20.23), senior Peter Aronsson in the 400 IM (4:01.79), sophomore Keith Vogelgesang in the 200 fly (1:52.54), junior Trent Holsman in the 100 free (45.89), sophomore Jeff Natalizio in the 200 back (1:51.37) and freshman Brooks Jenkins in the 500 free (4:44.11). <\/p>\n
The Bears also won the 200 medley relay in 1:31.17
\n(Macedo, junior Daniel Kim, senior Mattias Ohlin, Holsman). <\/p>\n
Cal is now 3-1 on the year; Pacific drops to 8-10.<\/p>\n
Cal will next travel to The Dallas Morning News Invitational, Jan. 18-19, before hosting Arizona State Friday, Jan. 25 and Arizona, Saturday, Jan. 26 at Spieker Aquatics Complex to begin Pac-10 dual meet competition. The Cal-ASU meet will begin at 1 p.m. and the Cal-UA will begin at noon. Both the Bears men's and women's swim teams will be hosting the Arizona schools. <\/p>\n
