LOUDONVILLE, New York, November 3. ILSA Feierabend broke the Siena pool record in the 200 backstroke as she won both the 100 and 200 distances to lead the Vermont Catamounts past Siena, 176-119. Overall, the Catamounts finished first in eight events and also swept the diving competition.<\/p>\n
The relay team of Christa Weaver, Andie Blaser, Diane Brown and Hayley Weik, all rookies, also set a record, breaking the UVM freshmen mark in the 200 freestyle. The team finished third overall with a time of 1:39.09, breaking the old mark of 1:41.38 set on Nov. 5, 2011.<\/p>\n
Weaver, who was the leadoff swimmer for the record-breaking relay squad, also picked up wins in the 100 and 200 freestyle races.<\/p>\n
Feierabend also swam the first leg of the 400 medley relay for the Catamounts. The team finished first with a time of 4:02.61.<\/p>\n
Other first-place finishers for the Catamounts included: Carah McClure winning the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:49.30; Chelsea Krisanda earning first place in the 200 butterfly; and Kailey Gardner finishing first in the 500 freestyle.<\/p>\n
Gardner extended her streak of winning at least one individual event to 18 straight regular season meets.<\/p>\n
Susannah Gruner and Rebecca Schreiber swept the diving competition for Vermont for the second straight meet. Gruner won the 1-meter event with a top score of 210.55. Fellow Catamounts Maggie Preston and Samantha Russo finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n
Schreiber was the top competitor in the 3-meters. She posted 217.35 points to lead Vermont.<\/p>\n
The Catamounts move to 4-2 overall and return to action on November 10 when they travel to Maine. The meet is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.<\/p>\n
