Baker has yet to post or make a statement on her new deal. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?s=David+marsh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>David Marsh<\/strong><\/a>, head coach for Team Elite in San Diego commented: &#8220;Best suit + Best team =Perfect Choice.&#8221; Baker trained with Team Elite leading up to the Phillips 66 National Championships.<\/p>\n<p>The deal comes days after the California Golden Bear announced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kathleen-baker-announces-pro-career-will-forgo-last-year-of-college-swimming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">start of her professional career<\/a>, forgoing her final year of NCAA collegiate competition. Five days before this, she set a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/race-video-kathleen-baker-stuns-with-new-world-record-in-100-back-nearly-breaks-58\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new World Record<\/a> in the 100 meter backstroke at the Phillips 66 National Championships. Her run at Nationals also included a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kathleen-baker-ripped-two-suits-before-200-back-final-video-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">title in the 200 backstroke<\/a> and a new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kathleen-baker-wins-200-im-in-new-u-s-open-and-championship-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">U.S. Open Record in the 200 IM<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Baker earned two bronze medals at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo taking place August 9-14.
