The meet runs from Aug 9-14 and features the following federations: Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, People&#8217;s Republic of China, Cook Islands, Colombia, Ecuador, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, New Zealand, Oman, Palau, Peru, Philippines, Thailand and the United States of America.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The second day of prelims saw two new meet record in the 100 backstroke, with\u00a0<strong>Kylie Masse\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Ryan Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>both smashing the old records to set season bests and lead all qualifiers for tonight&#8217;s finals.\u00a0<strong>Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>also led an incredibly tight field in the women&#8217;s 100 free, which should be an exciting event to kick off the second night of finals at Pan Pacs. Check out the recap below for all event results.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/swim.seiko.co.jp\/en\/2018\/S80701\/eng_index.htm\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heat Sheets\/Live Results<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/swim2.seiko.co.jp\/LiveResults\/sw_index_en.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Live Timing<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 100 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Simone Manuel\u00a0<\/strong>led all qualifiers in the women&#8217;s 100 free with a\u00a053.23. Just behind her was Australian\u00a0<strong>Cate Campbell<\/strong>\u00a0in 53.27, who just last night became the first woman to swim under 51 seconds on a 100 free relay split.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mallory Comerford\u00a0<\/strong>was the second American and third overall qualifier in 53.35, while Canadian\u00a0<strong>Taylor Ruck\u00a0<\/strong>was just a few more hundredths back in fourth (53.34). Australian\u00a0<strong>Shayna Jack\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth in 53.61 to give the Aussies two in the A final.<\/p>\n<p>Aussie <strong>Emma McKeon<\/strong>\u00a0was sixth in 53.97, but because of the two country limit in the A final will not be in the top heat tonight. Canadian\u00a0<strong>Kayla Sanchez\u00a0<\/strong>tied with American<strong>\u00a0Margo Geer\u00a0<\/strong>(54.02) for the seventh spot out of finals, although Geer will also be in the B final with McKeon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kelsi Worrell\u00a0<\/strong>also got her meet underway with a 54.09 swim in prelims, while\u00a0<strong>Katie McLaughlin\u00a0<\/strong>continued her strong meet with a best time of 54.14. Notably, Japanese record holder and last night&#8217;s silver medalist in the 200 free,\u00a0<strong>Rikako Ikee<\/strong>, was tied with McLaughlin in 10th this morning. Just behind him was\u00a0<strong>Caeleb Dressel\u00a0<\/strong>in 48.13, which is the fastest the Florida sprinter has been this season.<\/p>\n<p>Locked out of the A final in third was American\u00a0<strong>Blake Pieroni<\/strong> (48.21). Australian Olympic gold medalist\u00a0<strong>Kyle Chalmers\u00a0<\/strong>was the fastest non-American qualifier this morning, just behind Pieroni in 48.23. Joining him in the A final will be\u00a0<strong>Pedro Spajari\u00a0<\/strong>of Brazil (48.38), who was sandwiched between Chalmers and another Aussie,\u00a0<strong>Jack Cartwright\u00a0<\/strong>(48.43).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marcelo Chierighini\u00a0<\/strong>was the second Brazilian in with a 48.43. The A final will be rounded out with Japanese teammates\u00a0<strong>Katsumi Nakamura\u00a0<\/strong>(48.56) and\u00a0<strong>Shinri Shioura\u00a0<\/strong>(48.68). That was a more controlled morning swim than her U.S. Open record setting 200 fly in the prelims at U.S. Nationals a couple weeks ago, but was more than enough to get her the top seed here.<\/p>\n<p>In second was\u00a0<strong>Katie Drabot\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:08.40. That was also about a second and a half off her morning swim from Nationals. Drabot and Flickinger were the only swimmers under 2:09 in the field.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifying third and fourth were Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Sachi Mochida\u00a0<\/strong>(2:09.47) and\u00a0<strong>Suzuka Hasegawa\u00a0<\/strong>(2:09.73). That is .03 than his swim at Nationals that tied him for third at that meet. American <strong>Zach Harting<\/strong>,\u00a0who was second ahead of Conger at Nationals, was second again in prelims with a 1:55.28.<\/p>\n<p>In third and within striking distance was Japan&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daiya Seto\u00a0<\/strong>in\u00a01:55.57, while Brazil&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Leonardo De Deus\u00a0<\/strong>was also under 1:56 to finish fourth in 1:55.99.\u00a0<strong>Yuya Yajima\u00a0<\/strong>was fifth in 1:56.16 to put two Japanese swimmers in the A final.<\/p>\n<p>American\u00a0<strong>Justin Wright<\/strong>, who was the national champion in this event just two weeks ago, was about two seconds off his season best from that meet to finish sixth here and be forced into the B final as the third American. Masse broke the old Pan Pacs record of 58.84, formerly held by Australian\u00a0<strong>Emily Seebohm<\/strong>, with her top time of 58.29.<\/p>\n<p>Just behind her was Baker in 58.41, which was just 4-tenths off of her world record from a couple weeks ago. Seebohm, who broke her own record in an earlier heat, was third in 58.79. American\u00a0<strong>Regan Smith\u00a0<\/strong>was fourth through the heats in 59.27, followed closely by Japan&#8217;s <strong>Natsumi Sakai<\/strong> (59.45).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Olivia Smoliga <\/strong>was the third American in 59.47, and will be swimming in the B final tonight.
