SAMANTHA Achterberg (Littleton, Colo.), 20, claimed her first United States women&#039;s National Championship title on Oct. 27, while U.S. Army Specialist Dennis Bowsher (Dallas, Texas) claimed his 5th U.S. National Championship crown in as many years on Sunday during USA Pentathlon&#039;s Senior National Championships. <\/p>\n<p>2012 Junior World Championship teammates Achterburg and Isabella Isaksen (Fayetteville, Ark.), 18, won the gold and silver medals, respectively, while Alison English (Ventura, Calif.) picked up the bronze.  <\/p>\n<p>In the men&#039;s division, Bowsher won his fifth title with 5668 points, surpassing Brendan Anderson (Colorado Springs, Colo.), 16, and Justin Torrellas (Santa Barbara, Calif.) who finished second and third, respectively, in a close race separated by only 16 points, 5444 to 5428. Logan Storie (Portland Ore.), 22, broke the American record in the pentathlon 200-meter freestyle swim with a time of 1:55.3 at altitude. <\/p>\n<p>In the USA Junior Championships, Anderson won the boys division ahead of Lucas Schrimsher (Roswell, N.M.), 18, and Marshall Stymer (Beaverton, Ore.), 17, while in the girls division Achterberg, Isaksen and English went 1,2,3 to finish a successful season.<\/p>\n<p><b>The above article is a press release submitted to <i>Swimming World Magazine<\/i>.
