THE second day of the Dutch National Championships finished today in Amsterdam, and with it, a number of Youth National Records were re-written. Sharon Rouwendaal also added to her total wins, as did Joeri Verlinden. <\/p>\n<p><b>100m fly: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>London Olympian Sharon Rouwendaal added to her wins yesterday by cinching the women&#039;s 100 meter butterfly with a 59.76, dropping nearly two seconds from her preliminary swim.  Coming in second was Kelly Young, who broke the minute barrier (59.99) in prelims, but was a 1:00.13 in finals. Rounding out the top three was Parand Zarekiani with a 1:00.77. <\/p>\n<p>On the men&#039;s side, Rouewendaal&#039;s London teammate Joeri Verlinden took gold in the butterfly with a 51.85. He smoked the field by over a second, with silver going to Mike Marines at a 52.98. Jens Bakker captured bronze with a 53.87.  Young Kyle Stolk broke the 16-year-old age group National Youth record in the event when he clocked a 54.20. The record was previously held by Olympic gold medalist Pieter van den Hoogenband.<\/p>\n<p><b>200m breaststroke: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Tessa Brouwer dominated her competition for the win, dropping over five seconds from her preliminary time (2:34.52) to clock a 2:29.37. Her nearest competitor was Kristel Doreleijers at a 2:32.89, claiming second, and Lieke Verouden in third with a 2:34.03.<\/p>\n<p>Sebas van Lith took home gold for the men, with a 2:11.00, beating out second-place finisher Stefan Hazeleger by nearly three seconds. Hazeleger&#039;s 2:13.90 was over three seconds faster than his preliminary swim. Third place went to Mateusz Kobus with a 2:14.68<\/p>\n<p><b>50m backstroke:<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Records fell to the gold and silver medalists in the women&#039;s 50 meter backstroke. First place went to Kira Toussaint, who broke the Dutch National Championship record with her 27.09 final time. Maaike de Waard took second and set a new 16-year-old age group National record by clocking a 27.84. Third place went to Esmee Forest, who hit the wall with a 28.85.<\/p>\n<p>Jurjen Willemsen dominated the men&#039;s 50 meter backstroke by nearly a second, touching first with a time of 24.67. Second place went to Jesse Zwemlust at a 25.65, with Sverre Eschweiler rounding out the top three with a 25.97.<\/p>\n<p><b>Men&#039;s 400 IM: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Another record fell in the men&#039;s 400 IM. Lucas Greven took home the top title in both the youth and open divisions of the event, with an explosive 4:20.20, setting the 17-year-old Dutch National record in the process. Second place overall went to Sebas van Lith with a 4:26.35, followed closely by Ruben Vowels with a 4:27.17. <\/p>\n<p><b>200m freestyle: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>Elise Bouwens dropped considerable time from her preliminary swim (2:00.23) to clock a 1:56.46 for the win. Rieneke Terink took silver with a 1:56.77, several tenths ahead of 100 butterfly winner Sharon Rouwendaal, who swam a 1:58.05<\/p>\n<p>Dion Dreesens took off a chunk of time from his preliminary swim to win the men&#039;s 200 meter freestyle, with a 1:46.18. Close on his heels was Kyle Stolk, setting a new 16-year-old age group Dutch National Record in the event with a 1:46.66. This adds on to his 100 butterfly record from earlier in the finals session. Joost Reijns takes home bronze in the event with a 1:46.67. <\/p>\n<p><b>Women&#039;s 800m freestyle: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>The women&#039;s 800 meter freestyle was divided into the Youth and Open divisions. Top three for the youth women were: Manon Friskes, with a 9:08.98, placing her sixth overall in the event, Janina Beckers, with a 9:09.12, placing her seventh overall, and Lingy Nijhuis with a 9:18.77, placing her tenth overall. Vermeulen brought home gold on the open side of the event, clocking an 8:43.64, and touching just ahead of Leonie van Noort, who clocked a 8:43.73. Rounding out the top three was Judith Step, with an 8:49.00. <\/p>\n<p><b> Women&#039;s 4x100m medley relay\/ Men&#039;s 4x100m freestyle relay: <\/b><\/p>\n<p>The session ended off with the women&#039;s 4&#215;100 medley relay and men&#039;s 4&#215;100 freestyle relay. Eiffel swimming took home the gold and bronze on the women&#039;s side, with the Dolphins capturing silver. Eiffel&#039;s A team dominated the field, clocking a 4:04.80, with the Dolphins trailing for second by nearly six seconds. <\/p>\n<p>It was a mirror image on the men&#039;s side, with Eiffel Swimming winning gold and bronze, and the Dolphins taking silver. Eiffel A won the freestyle event in a 3:17.96. The Dolphins trailed, touching the wall at a 3:23.28.
