COLUMBIA, Missouri, October 26. THE Mizzou men's swimming and diving team claimed 14-of-16 event titles as the squad posted wins over Kentucky and SIU Southeastern Conference opener Friday afternoon in the at the Mizzou Aquatic Center. The Tigers defeated Kentucky 205-93 and SIU 229-67.<\/p>\n
Junior diver David Bonuchi, and sophomores Mack Darragh, Eegan Groome and Sam Tierney all recorded two event wins during the meet. Bonuchi once again claimed the 1 and 3-meter dives with scores of 377.65 and 392.05, respectively. Darragh took home the 200 fly with a time of 1:49.31 and the 200 IM after a swim of 1:52.63. Groome was victorious in the 200 free (1:40.38) and the 500 free (4:31.60). Tierney won both the 100 back and 200 breast with times of 48.66 and 2:01.24, respectively.<\/p>\n
The Tigers opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, as the team of sophomore Sam Tierney, junior Mark Conroy, senior John Krause and sophomore Ramom Melo clocked a time of 1:29.63. Mizzou's `B' team of senior Joe Hladik, sophomore Igor Kozlovskij, senior Ryan Sellers and freshman Max Grodecki came in second with a time of 1:31.63.<\/p>\n
Freshman Daniel Graviss swam a 9:28.22 in the 1000 free to claim first, while Groome finished second in 9:32.18.<\/p>\n
Conroy led a one-two-three sweep for the Tigers in the 100 breast as the junior finished in first with a time of 55.84. Kozlovskij came in second-place in 56.57 and senior Jowan Qupty was third in 56.81.<\/p>\n
Grodecki swam 45.83 in the 100 free to finish in first place. He was followed by Melo, who had a time of 46.40 to come in second. Melo earned an event title of his own in the 50 free, as he swam a 20.85.<\/p>\n
In the 200 back, senior John Higgins claimed first with a swim of 1:49.66, followed by Fish in second in 1:51.65.<\/p>\n
Freshman Clark Thomas earned second-place honors in the 3-meter dive with a score of 323.85.<\/p>\n
Mizzou hits the road for the first time this season on Friday, Nov. 9 for a 2 p.m. CT clash with No. 9 Georgia<\/p>\n

COLUMBIA, Missouri, October 26. THE Mizzou women's swimming and diving team posted wins over Kentucky and SIU and suffered a loss to Arkansas during the Tigers' Southeastern Conference opener Friday afternoon at the Mizzou Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n
Missouri posted a 164-135 victory over Kentucky and a 215-84 win over SIU but fell to Arkansas, 197-103.<\/p>\n
Senior Cassie Cunningham highlighted the meet with wins in both the 100 back and 50 free. Cunningham swam a 55.33 to earn top honors in the 100 back and had a time of 23.40 in the 50 free.<\/p>\n
In the diving well, junior Loren Figueroa continued her solid form to place first in the 1-meter dive. Figueroa, who posted a score of 285.70 to win the event, has won all three 1-meter events she has entered so far this season.<\/p>\n
In the opening event of the day, the 200 medley relay team of Cunningham, senior Rachel Ripley, freshman Danielle Barbiea and sophomore Emily Doucette finished in second with a time of 1:42.72, which was just 0.03 behind first-place Arkansas.<\/p>\n
The Tigers also had a number of individual second-place finishes during the meet. Freshman Anna Patterson swam a 1:51.57 in the 200 free to come in second, senior Dominique Bouchard was second in the 200 back with 1:58.80, Danielle Barbiea had a time of 55.72 in the 100 fly and Ripley finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.78.<\/p>\n
In the final event of the meet, the Tiger 400 free relay squad of Cunningham, senior Sydney Schaefer, Bouchard and Patterson placed second in 3:26.82. The time was almost three seconds faster than Mizzou posted in the same event last week.<\/p>\n
Mizzou hits the road for the first time this season on Friday, Nov. 9 for a 2 p.m. CT clash with No. 9 Georgia.<\/p>\n
