WE&#039;RE using the Poll of the Week to get your early thoughts on who should win some of the top categories for the Golden Goggle Awards, which will be handed out next month in New York City. Public voting is open now at usaswimming.org, and while the votes in our poll don&#039;t count for tabulating the eventual winner, it could provide a snapshot for what the public deems the best in American swimming this year. And, as people have pointed out in our comments section, there lots of variables that come into play when deciding on a winner, and it&#039;s great to hear from you about the thinking behind your choices.<\/p>\n<p>Which of these five choices do you believe should receive the Golden Goggle Award for best male swim of the year, all of which came from the Olympics? Should it be Nathan Adrian&#039;s 100 free, Tyler Clary&#039;s 200 back, Matt Grevers&#039; 100 back, Ryan Lochte&#039;s 400 IM or Michael Phelps&#039; 200 IM? To vote in the Swimming World poll, just go to <a href=http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/poll target=\"_blank\">swimmingworldmagazine.com\/poll<\/a> or click the poll icon on our home page. Voting for this poll question ends next Friday morning, but you have until November 9 to vote on USA Swimming&#039;s website. The votes from the public voting will be combined with a panel&#039;s vote to determine who takes home the Golden Goggles.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, we asked you who should get the award for best female swim of the year, and with 64 percent of the vote, Katie Ledecky&#039;s 800 free from the Olympics got the most votes. Missy Franklin&#039;s world record swim in the 200 back was a distant second with 17.5 percent, followed by Rebecca Soni&#039;s 200 breast, Dana Vollmer&#039;s 200 fly and Allison Schmitt&#039;s 200 free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX, Arizona, October 26.
