Russia’s\u00a0Yulia Efimova\u00a0<\/strong>toyed with the field over the first 100 meters, as she often does, and then she turned on the jets as the rest of the field could not keep pace. Efimova won the title in 2:21.31, not far off her own world No. 1-ranked time of 2:20.72.<\/p>\n

Spain’s\u00a0Jessica Vall Montero\u00a0<\/strong>claimed silver in 2:23.02, and Great Britain’s\u00a0Molly Renshaw\u00a0<\/strong>took bronze in 2:23.43, much to the delight of the partisan Glasgow crowd. Spain’s\u00a0Marina Garcia Urzainqui<\/strong> just missed the medals with a fourth-place time of 2:23.63.<\/p>\n

Denmark’s\u00a0Rikke Moeller Pedersen<\/strong>, the world record-holder,\u00a0finished fifth in 2:24.73, followed by Belgium’s\u00a0Fanny Lecluyse\u00a0<\/strong>(2:26.01) and Germany’s\u00a0Jessica Steiger\u00a0<\/strong>(2:27.66). Great Britain’s\u00a0Chloe Tutton<\/strong> was disqualified.<\/p>\n
