Tonight, the 2018 Richmond Futures Championships meet drew to a close. A lot of familiar faces were seen on the podium in Sunday’s events as well as the top-three overall team scores.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 LCM Free<\/h3>\n

After\u00a0tying for second with in 50 freestyle last night<\/a>,\u00a0Nicole<\/strong> Venema <\/strong>was crowned the 100 LCM free champion with a time of\u00a057.59.<\/p>\n

Olivia Tighe<\/strong>, the 100 and 500 yard freestyle 2018 state champion from Maine<\/a>\u00a0touched second at 57.97.<\/p>\n

Third-place was claimed by\u00a0Allison Martin<\/strong>\u00a0from The Fish after finishing in 58.25.<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 LCM Free<\/h3>\n

Cason Wilburn<\/strong>, runner-up in 100 butterfly at Richmon Futures<\/a>, claimed victory in the 100 LCM freestyle\u00a0 after dropping half of a second from his morning swim (51.81).<\/p>\n

Matthew Brownstead<\/strong>, the only other swimmer at finals to dip under 52, came in second with a time of 51.94<\/p>\n

Alexander (Lexo) Walker<\/strong> will take home another second bronze medal for the 100 free (52.02) after placing third in 200 free<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0second in 200 fly.<\/a><\/p>\n

Men’s 800 LCM Free<\/h3>\n

Matthew Bonnell <\/strong>shaved 7.88 seconds off of his prelims time andplaced first the 800 LCM freestyle, clocking in at 8:19.42.<\/p>\n

James Plage<\/strong>, the 1500 free champion<\/a> and bronze medalist in 400 free<\/a>\u00a0touched a fingernail behind Bonnell and nearly eight seconds ahead of any other swimmer in the field (8:19.48).<\/p>\n

Third to the wall was the\u00a0400 free champion<\/a>,\u00a0Zachary Washart <\/strong>(8:27.38).<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 LCM Back<\/h3>\n

Emily Clements<\/strong>\u00a0brought home the 200 LCM backstroke title to Phoenix Swimming in 2:16.20.<\/p>\n

A little over two seconds later (2:18.38), 14-year-old\u00a0Sydney Debaecke <\/strong>touched second to claim silver. <\/strong>She was the\u00a0youngest in A-final by 2 years.<\/p>\n

MIT class of 2022 recruit<\/a>,\u00a0Laura Rosada <\/strong>came in third with a time of\u00a02:19.09.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 LCM Back<\/h3>\n

After finishing second in the 100 backstroke<\/a>,\u00a0Elijah Tarabocchia<\/strong>\u00a0prevailed in the 200. Tarabocchia was the only swimmer that swam under 2:06 tonight (2:04.47).<\/p>\n

The 100 back champion, Zachary<\/strong> Bishop<\/strong>\u00a0came in second here, will a time of 2:06.01.<\/p>\n

Two days after his 400 IM victory,\u00a0Liam Bogart<\/strong>\u00a0was the third athlete to the wall in the A-final (2:06.88).<\/p>\n

Women’s 1500 LCM Free<\/h3>\n

Orla Egan<\/strong> from Laguardia Aquatic Club won the 1500 LCM freestyle, touching almost 12 seconds ahead of the next swimmer in the pool for the event (17:12.51).<\/p>\n

Second-place was\u00a0Sophia Karras<\/strong>, another\u00a0“youngster” from the psych sheet preview<\/a>, with a time of 17:23.21.<\/p>\n

The 800 freestyle champion<\/a>,\u00a0Allison Tomsuden<\/strong>\u00a0finished third after dropping 7.40 seconds (17:24.15) off of her seed time.<\/p>\n

Women’s 200 LCM IM<\/h3>\n

Emma Brinton <\/strong>from\u00a0Duquesne University won the 200 LCM individual medley with a time of\u00a02:20.40.<\/p>\n

400 IM champion<\/a>,\u00a0Corinne Carbone<\/strong>\u00a0earned silver in the 200 after touching the wall at 2:21.19.<\/p>\n

Rounding out third was\u00a0Eliza Manning<\/strong> of Monocacy Aquatic Club. Manning clocked in at 2:22.00.<\/p>\n

Men’s 200 LCM IM<\/h3>\n

Maxwell Rutledge<\/strong>\u00a0out of Greater Toledo Aquatic Club dropped 1.27 seconds (2:06.32) from his prelims time to win this event.<\/p>\n

Andrew Benson<\/strong>\u00a0placed second once again<\/a> in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:07.54.<\/p>\n

Brennan<\/strong> Hammond<\/strong>, added another bronze medal<\/a> to his collection after finishing his race in 2:08.04.<\/p>\n

Women’s 400 LCM Medley Relay<\/h3>\n

The A-relay team from Executive Swim Club won the final women’s event of the meet, with a time of 4:21.62. About half a second later, Empire Swimming’s A-relay touched second (4:22.09), followed by that of Tide Swimming (4:23.16).<\/p>\n

Men’s 400 LCM Medley Relay<\/h3>\n

The men from Peddie Aquatic Association took the 400 LCM medley relay title as the only team under 3:57 (3:56.22). Next to finish was the A-relay team from Tide Swimming (3:57.22), who narrowly edged out the boys from Bluefish Swim Club (3:57.36)<\/p>\n
