When people hear the phrase “pump up song<\/a>,” a few legendary songs immediately come to mind. Songs such as Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger<\/em>, Eminem’s Lose Yourself<\/em> and Europe’s The Final Countdown<\/em> have all become motivational classics in both pop culture and the sporting world. Pump up songs play a large role in many sports, especially in individual ones like swimming. They allow you to focus, step inside yourself and hone in on your race.<\/p>\n

Whether you use your music to chase away the pre-race jitters or psych yourself up before an intense final, there’s no doubt that music can have an impact on your performance. Swimming World<\/em> asked some aquatic athletes what their favorite pump up songs and artists were, and here are 15 of their responses.<\/p>\n
