TODAY, Yannick Agnel will be swimming in the event that brought him individual Olympic gold at the Berlin stop of the FINA World Cup. How low will he go in his pet event, the 200 freestyle?<\/p>\n<p>Agnel will have a host of World Cup regulars following him to the wall later today in finals. Australians Tommaso D&#039;Orsogna and Robert Hurley will be heavy contenders, as will South African Darian Townsend, but world record holder Paul Biedermann could give Agnel a good race &#8212; for at least the first half. After that, it could be a race against the clock. Will Agnel beat the top time from last year, which was Biedermann&#039;s 1:42.42 from this same meet. Agnel also has the short course world championships in seven weeks to consider, so we might not see the best from Agnel in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#039;s side, Camille Muffat of France will have American youngster Becca Mann hot on her heels. Mann is swimming well in her European visit, and after her fantastic swim in the 800 on the meet&#039;s first day, we could see a performance from Mann that will cement her status as a name to watch in distance freestyle in the years leading up to the Rio Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>Also of note to watch today is the men&#039;s 50 freestyle, featuring another epic battle between George Bovell of Trinidad and Tobago and American Anthony Ervin. Ervin won the first two 50 freestyles on the circuit, while Bovell has secured wins in the last two races.
