Five swimmers won their second victories of the meet. These five swimmers\u2019 performances moved them into contention for the individual high point awards. The swimmers and their respective winning events include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Haley Downey<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Splash Club): 100 Breast, 200 Breast<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li><strong>Charles Bennett<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Power For Life): 100 Breast, 200 Breast<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Riley Tapley<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Jeffco Hurricanes): 400 IM, 100 Back<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ana Herceg<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Nitro Swimming): 200 Free, 400 Free<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Trent Frandson<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Central Iowa): 200 Free, 400 Free<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both the men of Lakeside Aquatics Club and the ladies of Jeffco Hurricanes maintain their lead for the team points standings with 280 points and 221.50 points, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Results can be found on Meet Mobile under \u201c2018 USA Swimming Futures Championship RSC\u201d or by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/results\/2018-rochester-futures-championship-day-three-results-day-3\/usa-senior-national\/2018\/August\/2?rtn=%2Fresults%2Fusa-senior-national%3Fpage%3D1%26orderBy%3DResult.MeetStartDateTime%26sortDirection%3D1%26q%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clicking here to view full day three results<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 200 Fly<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With six women almost dead even on the last turn, it was 14-year-old <\/span><b>Addisyn Donfris<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Barrington who broke from the crowd to win the 200 fly at 2:18.78.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Runner-up went to Highland Park\u2019s <\/span><b>Abigail Smith<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:20.00) and third place went to Riptide\u2019s <\/span><b>Lucia Rizzo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:20.19).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 200 Fly<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Majority of the championship finalists took the first 100 out in 1:00\/1:01, however <\/span><b>Lance Godard<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Empire KC had the stronger second 100 to win at 2:06.05.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lakeside\u2019s <\/span><b>Spencer Woodward<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:07.63) took second place and in third place went to another Empire KC swimmer, <\/span><b>Harold Tjaden<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:07.95).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 50 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Carly Novelline<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Nasa Wildcat won the women\u2019s splash-and-dash with a time of 26.64. Coming in second was <\/span><b>Sierra Smith<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Life Time Minnesota at 26.79.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coming in third was North Suburban\u2019s <\/span><b>Pyper Doo <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">at 26.82. Just two one-hundredths behind Doo tying for fourth were High Tides\u2019s <\/span><b>Grace Hanson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and Cypress Fairbanks\u2019s <\/span><b>Sydney Stanford<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, both clocking a 26.84.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 50 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In one of the tightest races so far this meet, only two one-hundredths separated the top three in the men\u2019s 50 free. Taking the title was Club North\u2019s <\/span><b>Grant Sloan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 24.00.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finishing off the tight top three were Alamo\u2019s <\/span><b>Aaron Bruns<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (24.01) and Cypress Fairbanks\u2019s <\/span><b>Alexander Ellison<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (24.02).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 200 Breast<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Splash\u2019s Downey took the win to sweep both breaststroke events at 2:35.01. Coming in second to complete a Splash Club 1-2 finish was teammate <\/span><b>Katharine Steward<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 2:35.58.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rice\u2019s <\/span><b>Ella Flowers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> took third with a time of 2:37.97. Yesterday\u2019s 100 fly champion Greater Nebraska\u2019s <\/span><b>Caroline Theil<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> took fourth at 2:38.41.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 200 Breast<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking another Power For Life 1-2 breaststroke sweep was<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bennett (2:18.30) and teammate <\/span><b>Jacob Shababerle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:18.53), finishing five seconds ahead of the field. Rounding off the top three was Riptide\u2019s <\/span><b>Quenton Steffen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2:23.65).<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 100 Back<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tapley of Jeffco Hurricanes took her second victory of the meet by winning the 100 back with a time of 1:04.77. Just four one-hundredths behind Tapley was Club Husker\u2019s <\/span><b>Jessica Pentlarge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> clocking in a 1:04.81. Capping off the top three was Empire KC\u2019s <\/span><b>Abigail Karl<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 1:04.90.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 100 Back<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the entire championship final breaking one minute, Mansfield\u2019s <\/span><b>Eric Stelmar <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stood out to win with a time of 57.86. Just behind Stelmar was Cypress Fairbanks\u2019s <\/span><b>Elliott Jones<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 57.92 and Highland Park\u2019s <\/span><b>Andrew Vorobev<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 58.71.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Women\u2019s 400 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also taking her second victory of the meet was Nitro\u2019s Herceg, finishing by a two second margin at 4:20.10. Unattached <\/span><b>Christine Blomquist<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> finished in second at 4:22.23. Rounding out the top three was Cypress Fairbanks\u2019s <\/span><b>Carson Kaufmann<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 4:24.71.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking fourth was 12-year-old <\/span><b>Leah Hayes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Fox Valley with a personal best of 4:24.80. This time bumped Hayes from 35th to 14th all-time in the girls 11-12 LCM 400 free nationally.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Men\u2019s 400 Free<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frandson of Central Iowa swam his most dominating race of the meet so far by not only winning by seven seconds but also breaking four minutes with a time of 3:58.41.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The race for second was on as Magnolia\u2019s <\/span><b>Tobin Hickman-Chow <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">took runner-up with a time of 4:05.85. Topping off the top three was American Energy\u2019s <\/span><b>Hunter Denison<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at 4:06.70.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dominating swims pick up tomorrow for the last day of the Rochester Futures featuring the 100 Free, Men\u2019s 800 Free, 200 Back, Women\u2019s 1500 Free, 200 IM, and the 400 Medley Relay.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Nick Pecoraro, Swimming World College Intern.
