﻿{"id":323555,"date":"2018-08-03T22:19:21","date_gmt":"2018-08-04T05:19:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=323555"},"modified":"2018-08-04T05:25:26","modified_gmt":"2018-08-04T12:25:26","slug":"richmond-futures-night-two-empire-swimming-leads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/richmond-futures-night-two-empire-swimming-leads\/","title":{"rendered":"Richmond Futures, Night Two: Empire Swimming Leads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Payton Titus, Swimming World College Intern.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The second night of competition at Richmond Futures Championships brought tight titles to swimmers not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/night-one-of-richmond-futures-empire-swimming-sweeps-800-free-relays\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously mentioned<\/a>, Empire Swimming grasped the lead in the overall team scores.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 200 LCM Free<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">First-place finisher and rising sophomore at College of William and Mary, <strong>Megan Bull<\/strong>,\u00a0completed the 200 LCM free in 2:03.14. This time was\u00a0over one second faster than her prelims swim and the rest of her competitors. Touching second was <strong>Sophia Kudryashova<\/strong> with a time of 2:04.17. Kudryashova <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/sectional-champion-sophia-kudryashova-sends-verbal-commitment-to-unc-tar-heels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gave her verbal commitment to UNC Tarheels<\/a> in May of 2018. Rounding-out third was <strong>Morgan Miller<\/strong>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/junior-morgan-miller-gives-virginia-tech-first-verbal-commit-to-class-of-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Virginia Tech class of 2023 commit<\/a> clocked in at 2:04.24.<\/div>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 200 LCM Free<\/h3>\n<p>The men&#8217;s 200 free was a tight race. <strong>Walker Wilson<\/strong> from Lehigh University won the 200 LCM freestyle with a time of 1:53.49. SOLO Aquatics swimmer, <strong>Andrew Benson<\/strong> finished shortly thereafter, touching in 1:53.73.<strong> Alexander (Lexo) Walker<\/strong> was narrowly beat by Benson, finishing just one-tenth of a second behind him (1:53.83).<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 100 LCM Breast<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Clarissa Sabin<\/strong>\u00a0of Berkely Aquatic Club in New Jersey emerged victorious in another tight race. Her 1:12.12 was a little over a tenth of a second faster than that of <strong>Hannah Bach<\/strong> (1:12.44). The Ohio State class of 2023 commit out-touched her competitor by a mere 0.30 seconds. <strong>Alexandra McDaid<\/strong>, the rising LSU freshman from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jiang-and-other-youngsters-light-up-richmond-futures-psych-sheets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richmond Futures psych sheet preview<\/a> came in third with a time of 1:12.74.<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 100 LCM Breast<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">First: Christopher Bondarowicz FSPY-NJ 19 1:03.95 (0.15 drop from this morning)\u00a0The Richmond Futures men&#8217;s 100 breaststroke title went to Christopher Bondarowicz of the U.S. Naval Academy and Fanwood Scotch Plains YMCA. His time (1:03.95) was almost a second faster than that of Benjamin Brooks from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/eastern-magician-says-goodbye-to-mens-swimming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">EMU<\/a>, who claimed second in 1:04.99. Noah Houskeeper earned third place in the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.29.<\/div>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 100 LCM Fly<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">&#8220;Youngster&#8221; <strong>Joy Jiang<\/strong> did end up finishing first in the 100 fly after clocking in at 1:01.80. Hitting the wall soon after was <strong>Joanie Cash<\/strong> (1:01.94). Jiang and Cash were the only women under 1:02 in this event. Miller earned her second third-place finish of the night with a time of 1:02.31.<\/div>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 100 LCM Fly<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>James Huang<\/strong> of Cornell University finished first in the 100 fly with a time of 54.96. <strong>Cason Wilburn<\/strong> touched second with a time of 55.23. <strong>Brennan Hammond<\/strong> followed close behind, hitting the wall third in 55.78.<\/div>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 400 LCM IM<\/h3>\n<p>UNH Wildcat, <strong>Corrine Carbone<\/strong> dropped 5.47 seconds off of her prelims time to win the 400 individual medley (4:56.31). Two seconds later (4:58.78), <strong>Eliza Brown<\/strong> earned silver, and nearly three seconds after her, <strong>Katherine Lair<\/strong> touched to earn bronze (5:01.05).<\/p>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 400 LCM IM<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The 2018 Richmond Futures 400 individual medley title went to <strong>Liam Bogart<\/strong>, rising freshman at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/nine-athletes-joining-yale-mens-swimming-diving-class-of-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yale University<\/a>, for finishing in 4:32.07.\u00a0 <strong>Chris Balbo<\/strong> from Somerset Valley YMCA came in second (4:32.64) after a two second drop from his morning swim (4:34.64). Balbo&#8217;s teammate, John Stauffer finished third in 4:33.56.<\/div>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 400 LCM Free Relay<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The A-relay team from Empire Swimming claimed first place with a time of 3:56.15. Second-place went to the A-relay from Asphalth Green Unified Aquatics after they swam their race in 3:56.40. The third team to hit the wall was that of Phoenix Swimming Together, they swam a 3:56.89 400 free relay. They shaved 2.27 seconds off of their seed time.<\/div>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 400 LCM Free Relay<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Peddie Aquatic Association&#8217;s A-relay took the men&#8217;s 400 free relay title in 3:34.06. They were quickly joined by second-place finishers from Empire Swimming (3:34.49). The A-relay representing the 757 Swim came in third with a time of\u00a03:35.46.<\/div>\n<div>\n<h3>Combined Team Scores After Night 2:<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">1. Empire Swimming, 217<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">2. Dayton Raiders, 210<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">3.
