These performances along with significant time drops in the men&#8217;s 1500 LCM freestyle event are the first of what is sure to be many highlights from the northeast this weekend.<\/p>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 800 LCM Free<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Finishing first in this event was 16-year-old <strong>Allison Tomsuden<\/strong> from North Baltimore Aquatic Club in Maryland with a time of 9:03.39. Originally seeded sixth with a time of 9:09.13, Tomsuden walks away from night one with a personal best in her first event by 5.74 seconds.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Second-place finisher, <strong>Tylor Mathieu<\/strong> from Blue Devil Aquatics swam a 9:04.27. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/tylor-mathieu-continues-family-legacy-with-verbal-commitment-to-florida\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The University of Florida legacy and new commit<\/a> jumped up two spots from her seed in the psych sheet and shaved 2.65 seconds off of her previous record.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Rounding out third was\u00a0<strong>Carol-lena Breiter<\/strong>. After a tight finish between her and Mathieu, the 16-year-old\u00a0Pheonix Swimming athlete clocked in with a time 9:04.75.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The &#8220;youngster&#8221; from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/jiang-and-other-youngsters-light-up-richmond-futures-psych-sheets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Richmond Futures Psych Sheet Preview<\/a>, <strong>Sophia Karras<\/strong>, came in eighth in the event, having climbed her way up from ninth, dropping 4.08 seconds and touching in 9:07.18.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 1500 LCM Free<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>James Plage<\/strong> from Aquabears in Conneticut claimed first in the men&#8217;s 1500 free. The 15-year-old out-swam his competition by over seven seconds, with a time of 15:54.20.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">After shaving 20.54 seconds off of his seed time, <strong>Matthew Bonnell<\/strong>\u00a0finished his race in 16:01.27 and three places ahead of where he was projected to.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><strong>Zachary Washart<\/strong>, rising <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/duke-swimming-diving-adds-nine-for-2017-2018-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sophomore at Duke University<\/a> came in third, with a time of\u00a016:10.59. This new time was a result of an 18.75 second drop.<\/div>\n<h3>Women\u2019s 800 LCM Free Relay<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The first relay title of the 2018 Richmond Futures meet went to Empire Swimming&#8217;s A-relay. Their 1.54 second drop and time of 8:29.82 were enough to secure the win.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Second place went to the A-relay from Bluefish Swim Club\u00a0(8:32.80) after a heartbreaking addition of 6.26 seconds onto their seed time (8:26.54).<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Crimson Aquatics&#8217;s A-relay finished third with a time of 8:37.12.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">A notable swim from the psych sheet preview came from the A-relay for the Dayton Raiders. The team dropped one slot and added 6.61 seconds to their seed time, clocking in at 8:37.53.<\/div>\n<h3>Men\u2019s 800 LCM Free Relay<\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\">As previously mentioned, the men&#8217;s A-relay from Empire Swimming completed the club team&#8217;s 800 freestyle relay sweep, with a time of 7:45.96. A 6.88 second drop helped Empire surpass Badger Swim Club and claim their first title of the meet by a noteworthy margin.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Touching second was the Solo Aquatics A-relay (7:52.88). They shaved a solid 0.88 seconds off of their time on the psych sheet.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Bluefish Swim Club earned their second top-three relay finish of the night and concluded the first day of competition with a time of 7:55.49.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<hr \/>\n<p>Prelims for the second day of competition will begin at 9:00 am, EST on Friday, August 3rd.<\/p>\n<p><em>All results can be found on Meet Mobile- 2018 USA Swimming Futures Championships (Richmond, VA US).<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Payton Titus, Swimming World College Intern.
