Clark won the 100-meter butterfly in 1:09:38, more than a second faster than what Phelps set at the championship in 1995.<\/p>\n<p>Phelps, the most decorated Olympic athlete in U.S. history, went on to win 28 Olympic medals.<\/p>\n<p>Clark, meanwhile, has only been swimming competitively for four years, CNN reported.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This kid is unlike any other young man that I&#8217;ve ever coached,&#8221; Clark&#8217;s coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2018\/07\/31\/us\/clark-kent-beats-michael-phelps-trnd\/index.html\"><strong>Dia Riana<\/strong> told CNN<\/a>. &#8220;He&#8217;s always stood out, he&#8217;s just, he&#8217;s kind of a savant of sorts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>At age 10, Clark balances a lot of activities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I love swimming because I have a lot of people supporting me and my coaches are always there for me and my parents are always there,&#8221; Clark told CNN.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michael Phelps has been defeated by Clark Kent.
