PHOENIX, Arizona, October 11. THE Tennessee Lady Vols are continuing to build momentum in the Class of 2013 as Swimming World five-star recruit Christina Leander just made her commitment to Matt Kredich known publicly. Earlier this week, Tennessee mopped up with three huge commitments.<\/p>\n
Leander, who trains at the Suburban Seahawks Club and preps at West Chester East in West Chester, Pa., is a backstroke star who adds just another element to what is already becoming a sterling class for Kredich and Tyler Fenwick. Leander already has NCAA Division I B cuts in the 100-yard back (54.14), 200-yard back (1:58.21) and 200-yard IM (2:00.61) for a full slate of three events for the Lady Vols. She also has strong long course meter backstroke times in the 100-meter (1:03.39) and 200-meter (2:15.94). <\/p>\n
“I can’t be more happy right now!” Leander told Swimming World. “God answered all my prayers, and I can’t wait for next fall! I fell in love with Tennessee the moment I got there! The coaches and the girls on the team are amazing! Tennessee has a lot to offer, and the next four years are gonna be great! Go Vols!”<\/p>\n
Leander, who is celebrating her birthday today as well, is the 36th-ranked recruit in the nation, and fourth in the state of Pennsylvania according to CollegeSwimming.com. The commitment now gives Tennessee five of the top 50 recruits available in the nation with pledges already in from eighth-ranked Camryne Morris, 37th-ranked Colleen Callahan, 39th-ranked Heather Lundstrom and 49th-ranked Patricia Forrester. <\/p>\n
