Night two of the 2018 RBC Canadian Swimming Championship took place at the Pan Am pool tonight, where swimmers contested the 100 freestyle, 400 IM and the 800-freestyle relay.<\/p>\n

Many national junior team members were in action tonight. Joshua Liendo<\/strong> followed up his 100-fly record scare<\/a> with a 100 freestyle victory, and Cole Pratt<\/strong> finished second once again. Also competing was local swimmer Sarah Watson,<\/strong> who came up just short of her second gold in the 100.<\/p>\n

Women’s 100 Free<\/h3>\n

Youth prevailed in the 13-14 age category, as two 13-year-olds topped the podium. Leading the close race was Edmonton\u2019s Chistey Liang<\/strong> in 58.09, followed by Etobicoke\u2019s Elan Daley<\/strong> in 58.12.<\/p>\n

Fourteen-year-old Dylan Scholes<\/strong> came in for a close third in 58.53.<\/p>\n

\"CJC-13-14-100fr\"<\/p>\n

It was all Raphaelle Dandois-Samson<\/strong> in the 15-17 age category. The 16-year-old from Montreal led the field with the only sub 27 in the first 50 and never looked back, touching to win in 56.64.<\/p>\n

Local Winnipeg swimmer Watson came second in 57.04<\/p>\n

Men’s 100 Free<\/h3>\n

It was another duel between Liendo and Pratt in the 14-15 100 freestyle tonight, and Liendo got the best of it once again with a swift 51.19. These two will go head to head twice more in the men’s 200 butterfly and 200 freestyle.<\/p>\n

Pratt touched in 52.19 and Edouard Fullum-Huot<\/strong> put up a third sub 53 swim with his 52.29.<\/p>\n

\"CJC-14-15-100FR\"<\/p>\n

The 16-18 100 fly champion Guillermo Cruz<\/strong> also doubled up tonight with his 100 freestyle win tonight, finishing with a 51.29.<\/p>\n

Justin Konik<\/strong> and James LeBuke<\/strong> rounded out the podium.<\/p>\n

Women’s 400 IM<\/h3>\n

Thirteen-year-old Katrina Bellio<\/strong> picked up another win tonight in the girls 13-14 400 IM. Bellio was the only swimmer in the age group under 5:00.<\/p>\n

It was a close race for second between Ashley McMillan<\/strong> and Catherine Minic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the older age category, it was a battle between Junior Pan Pac team mates Emma O\u2019Croinen<\/strong> and Victoria Kwan<\/strong>. Kwan led through 200, but O\u2019Croinen ran her down in the last 100 to touch for the win with a 4:52.62.<\/p>\n

Kwan held on for second in 4:53.04.<\/p>\n

\"CJC-15-17-400IM\"<\/p>\n

Men’s 400 IM<\/h3>\n

15-year-old Jacob Galant<\/strong> from Fredericton blew away the field in the 14-15 boys 400 IM. Gallant led from start to finish, winning with an excellent time of 4:27.85.<\/p>\n

Eric Brown<\/strong> was second and Matthew Cyr<\/strong> was third.<\/p>\n

\"CJC-14-15-400IM\"<\/p>\n

The 16-18 boys race was much closer, albeit a bit slower. Charles Millette<\/strong> of Montreal got his hand on the wall first in 4:31.62.<\/p>\n

His teammate Patrick Hussey<\/strong> was second in 4:31.93<\/p>\n

\"CJC-16-18-400IM\"<\/p>\n

Women’s 800 Free Relay<\/h3>\n

Island Swim Club won the women\u2019s 800 free relay in 8:19.84. Etobicoke was a distant second in 8:23.07.<\/p>\n

Chantel Jeffrey<\/strong> of Island had the fastest split in 2:02.86.<\/p>\n

Men’s 800 Free Relay<\/h3>\n

The men\u2019s 800 free relay was all Cascade swim club, who finished in 7:38.96. Cascade was very consistent across all four legs, splitting 1:55, 1:55, 1:53, 1:54.<\/p>\n

Etobicoke came second once again in 7:47.09.<\/p>\n
