The Nomination Committee of the German Swimming Association (DSV) has agreed by mutual agreement against a nomination of Marco Koch<\/strong> for the European Championships in Glasgow. Henning Lambertz<\/strong>, head coach swimming in the DSV, had the Darmstadt initially on the team after his National title over 200m breast (2:08.97). But the time suggested against the decision in the interest of the association.<\/p>\n

After a long and intensive discussion, they finally decided against a European Championship nomination by Koch.<\/p>\n

“The positive trend of Marco in recent weeks is clearly visible and is also reflected in the season’s best. However, his time of 2:08.97 is not sufficient for a subsequent nomination. He was here in Berlin prepared for the start. Thus, a further increase to swim close to medal can not necessarily be expected,” said Lambertz, who had repeatedly made it clear before the national championships that a subsequent nomination is only with outstanding individual achievements.<\/p>\n

For this, times must be achieved with which you can swim in the European Championship for Germany for a medal.<\/p>\n

This is the third big name to drop out of the 2018 European Championships in Glasgow. Koch joins\u00a0Italy’s\u00a0Gabriele Detti<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and Spain’s\u00a0Mireia Belmonte<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>as absentees from the Championships in eleven days.<\/p>\n
