It was a fast fourth and final day of the 2018 Speedo Sectionals Series \u2013 Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio. The meet, which was\u00a0held at Cleveland State\u2019s Busbey Natatorium, was co-hosted by the\u00a0Firestone Akron Swim Team and the Hudson Explores Aquatic Team.<\/p>\n

Katie Duggan\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0Club Wolverine added the women’s 1500 free title to her 800 free win from the opening night. She won the event by nine seconds, finishing with a final time of 17:10.33. She also finished second in the 200 free and 400 free in Cleveland.<\/p>\n Second went to Ohio State’s\u00a0Natalia Jaspeado\u00a0<\/strong>in 17:19.05 and Club Wolverine’s\u00a0Annette Dombkowski\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 17:33.10.<\/p>\n Ohio State’s\u00a0Austin Mortimer\u00a0<\/strong>used consistent splits to power his way to a win in the men’s 800 free. He dropped over nine seconds from his entry time to stop the clock in 8:27.60.<\/p>\n He was followed by his teammate\u00a0Carson Burt<\/strong>, who dropped six seconds to take second in 8:29.84. Canton City Schools’\u00a0Ethan Banks<\/strong> finished third in 8:31.68.<\/p>\n Club Wolverine’s\u00a0Delaney Duncan\u00a0<\/strong>completed her breaststroke sweep this weekend with a win in the women’s 50. She sprinted her way to first in 31.12, 1.5 seconds ahead of the competition and three-tenths faster than this morning.<\/p>\n East Grand Rapids’\u00a0Riley Kishman\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 32.79 and\u00a0Cincinnati Marlins’\u00a0Claudia Butterfield\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 33.37.<\/p>\n Ohio State’s\u00a0Dominic Harry\u00a0<\/strong>shaved off a few hundredths of a second from his prelims swim to get his hands to the wall first in tonight’s men’s 50 breast final with a time of 29.27.<\/p>\n Last night’s 100 breast winner\u00a0Scott Soboleweski\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0Cincinnati Marlins cruised to second in 29.48 and Lake Shore’s\u00a0Benjamin Brooks\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 29.57.<\/p>\n After posting a trio of top-three finishes earlier this weekend, Hudson Explorer’s\u00a0Paige McCormick<\/strong> finally found herself on top of the podium in the women’s 200 IM. She was just off her personal best time of 2:20.85 to win the event in 2:21.08.<\/p>\n Her teammate\u00a0Giovanna Cappabianca\u00a0<\/strong>secured the runner-up spot in 2:21.48 while Great Lakes’\u00a0Portia Brown\u00a0<\/strong>finished a close third with a new best time of 2:21.64.<\/p>\n Swimming unattached, Trahern Gribble\u00a0<\/strong>swam his way to victory in the men’s 200 IM final. He dropped well over two seconds from this morning to post a final time of 2:08.08, a new lifetime best by three seconds.<\/p>\n Greater Toldeo’s\u00a0Maxwell Rutledge\u00a0<\/strong>dropped six seconds from his entry time to take second in 2:08.36 and Great Lakes’\u00a0Tyler Hong\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 2:08.76.<\/p>\n Ohio State\u2019s\u00a0Taylor Petrak,\u00a0<\/strong>who took third in the women’s 50 free, sprinted her way to the top in the 100 free to close out her week of racing. She knocked off almost a second from her morning swim to post a lifetime best of 57.16 during finals.<\/p>\n Liquid Lightning’s\u00a0Claire Abbasse\u00a0<\/strong>stopped the clock in 57.66 for second and Ohio State’s\u00a0Maria Coy\u00a0<\/strong>swam a time of 58.02, fast enough for third.<\/p>\n Ohio State’s\u00a0Matthew<\/strong> Abeysinghe<\/strong>, who also won the men’s 50 fly yesterday,\u00a0won the last individual race of the weekend. He swam faster than this morning, getting his hand to the wall first in 50.45.<\/p>\n His teammate\u00a0Ryan Vandermeulen\u00a0<\/strong>was right on his best time, finishing in 51.87.\u00a0Christian Bart\u00a0<\/strong>of East Grand Rapids\u00a0also made the podium, finishing in a close third with a time of 51.89.<\/p>\n Club Wolverine’s\u00a0Claire Young\u00a0<\/strong>(1:06.60), Duncan (1:10.37),\u00a0Sydney Thomas\u00a0<\/strong>(1:05.62) and\u00a0Stephanie Johnston\u00a0<\/strong>(58.30) combined to win the women’s 4×100 medley relay with a cumulative time of 4:20.89.<\/p>\n Second went to Ohio State in 4:22.28 and Lake Erie took third in 4:24.07.<\/p>\n The Ohio State quartet of\u00a0Colin McDermott\u00a0<\/strong>(57.65),\u00a0Alex Jahan, Henrique Painhas\u00a0<\/strong>and Abeysinghe (50.40) won the meet’s final event in a time of 3:47.39.<\/p>\n Cincinnati Marlins finished second in 3:51.31 while Canton City Schools rounded out the top three in 3:55.51.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It was a fast fourth and final day of the 2018 Speedo Sectionals Series \u2013 Cleveland in Cleveland, Ohio.
