{"id":319932,"date":"2018-07-20T19:06:22","date_gmt":"2018-07-21T02:06:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=319932"},"modified":"2018-07-20T19:06:22","modified_gmt":"2018-07-21T02:06:22","slug":"kenisha-liu-wins-two-more-on-day-two-in-santa-clarita","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kenisha-liu-wins-two-more-on-day-two-in-santa-clarita\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenisha Liu Wins Two More on Second Night in Santa Clarita"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Kenisha Liu<\/strong> of Brea Aquatics highlighted the second day of the 2018 Speedo Sectional Series in Santa Clarita, Calif. by winning two more events after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kenisha-liu-wins-twice-on-day-1-of-2018-santa-clarita-speedo-sectionals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">winning two yesterday<\/a>.\u00a0Hosted by Canyons Aquatics Club, the meet will run July 19-22 at the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n<p>Full results can be found on Meet Mobile &#8211; Canyons Summer CA-NV Sectional-2018.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 200 Free<\/h2>\n<p>Brea Aquatics swept the podium in day two&#8217;s opening event: the women&#8217;s 200 free.\u00a0<strong>Kenisha Liu\u00a0<\/strong>won her third individual event of the weekend, taking the title by over one second in 2:01.22.<\/p>\n<p>Her teammates\u00a0<strong>Samantha Pearson\u00a0<\/strong>finished second in 2:02.25 and\u00a0<strong>Zephanie Koh\u00a0<\/strong>took third in a new lifetime best of 2:03.90.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 200 Free<\/h2>\n<p>After finishing second in last night&#8217;s 100 free, Terrapins&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Alexei Sancov\u00a0<\/strong>found himself on top of the podium in the men&#8217;s 200 free tonight. He stopped the clock in 1:51.01 for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Brea Aquatics&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Michael Tenney\u00a0<\/strong>swam a new personal best of 1:51.43 for second while Crow Canyon&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Teagan Cheney\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 1:53.21.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 400 IM<\/h2>\n<p>Not too long after winning the women&#8217;s 200 free, Liu was back in the water to dominate the 400 IM. She knocked off nearly five seconds from her morning swim to win the event by four seconds in 4:54.75.<\/p>\n<p>Pearson swam a new lifetime best by five seconds to finish second in 4:58.86 while Yucaipa&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Calysta Bartlett\u00a0<\/strong>snuck under the five-minute barrier for the first time to take third in 4:59.03.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 400 IM<\/h2>\n<p>Tenney had a busy yet successful day two in Santa Clarita, adding the men&#8217;s 400 IM victory in addition to his runner-up finish in the 200 free only moments earlier. He dropped nearly six seconds from his entry time to win in 4:28.88.<\/p>\n<p>De Anza Cupertino&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Daniel Marella\u00a0<\/strong>shaved off just over a second to finish second in 4:33.84 while Beach Cities&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Aiichiroh Shirakata\u00a0<\/strong>took third in 4:38.56.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 100 Back<\/h2>\n<p>Sixteen-year-old\u00a0Koh of Brea Aquatics won a close women&#8217;s 100 back race, out-touching the runner-up by only 0.03. She got her hand to the wall first in 1:03.77, a best time by two seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Daibo&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Gillian Flath\u00a0<\/strong>recorded a second-place showing in 1:03.80\u00a0while Brea Aquatics&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Emily Trieu\u00a0<\/strong>wasn&#8217;t too far behind in 1:03.97 for third.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 100 Back<\/h2>\n<p>Roadrunner&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>Brock Bonetti\u00a0<\/strong>cruised to first in the men&#8217;s 100 back, winning the event by over one second.\u00a0He dropped almost two seconds from his prelims swim to deliver a 55.93 during finals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luca Spinazzola\u00a0<\/strong>of Trojan took second in 57.20 while Brea Aquatics&#8217;\u00a0<strong>Preston Planells\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 57.81.<\/p>\n<h2>Women&#8217;s 4&#215;100 Free Relay<\/h2>\n<p>The Brea Aquatics quartet of\u00a0<strong>Marly Lough\u00a0<\/strong>(57.31),\u00a0<strong>Justina Kozan\u00a0<\/strong>(58.05), Pearson (57.80) and Liu (57.14) combined to win the women&#8217;s 4&#215;100 free relay in 3:50.30, 4.5 seconds ahead of the competition.<\/p>\n<p>San Jose State finished second in 3:54.85 while Beach Cities took third in 3:56.02.<\/p>\n<h2>Men&#8217;s 4&#215;100 Free Relay<\/h2>\n<p>The Terrapins team of\u00a0<strong>Matthew Fetterman\u00a0<\/strong>(53.81),\u00a0<strong>Maxwell Bottene\u00a0<\/strong>(53.19), Sancov (50.17) and <strong>Andrei Minakov<\/strong> (48.81)\u00a0capped the night off with a dominate performance in the day&#8217;s final event, winning in 3:25.98.<\/p>\n<p>Roadrunner Aquatics took second in 3:29.05 while De Anza Cupertino Aquatics finished third in 3:31.11.<\/p>\n<p>Prelims for the third day of competition will begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. PDT.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kenisha Liu of Brea Aquatics highlighted the second day of the 2018 Speedo Sectional Series in Santa Clarita, Calif. by winning two more events after winning two yesterday.\u00a0Hosted by Canyons<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":101,"featured_media":147302,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":false,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"dois","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[49262],"tags":[69145,31778],"class_list":["post-319932","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-meet-recaps","tag-2018-speedo-sectionals-long-course","tag-kenisha-liu"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v24.3 (Yoast SEO v24.3) -
