AT the final awards banquet of the United States Aquatic Sports Convention in Greensboro, N.C., Missy Franklin won USA Swimming&#039;s Swimmer of the Year award.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Thank you so much for the incredible honor,&#8221; Franklin tweeted. &#8220;It means so much to me!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Franklin has had a remarkable career trajectory since initially breaking out internationally last summer at the 2011 World Championships with three golds, a silver and a bronze.  This year, Franklin dominated at the 2012 London Olympics with four golds and a silver in her first chance at Olympic glory. She claimed gold in the 100 and 200 back individually, while also being a member of the 800 freestyle and 400 medley relay triumphs.  She also earned bronze as part of the U.S. 400 free relay. <\/p>\n<p>The performance in London has had Franklin on a whirlwind publicity tour prior to heading back to Colorado for her senior year at Regis Jesuit High School.  She still hasn&#039;t completely shut the door on going pro, but plans on going to college with her final list of schools being down to California, Georgia, Southern California and Texas.
