ATHENS, Ga., Jan. 6. SOUTHEASTERN Conference members Katherine Bortenlanger of Alabama and Matt Bricker of Auburn won their respective platform events as the 2002 Georgia Diving Invitational wrapped up Sunday afternoon at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens. <\/p>\n
Bricker built a sizable lead and won the event by more that 80 points with an overall score of 552.25. Georgia freshman and Athens native Todd Avery came in second with a final score of 464.40. Bulldog Colby Carter finished fourth with a score of 430.25, and trailed the third-place competitor, Zach Wilcox of Florida, by only 2.70 points. <\/p>\n
Bortenlanger tallied 372.45 points to win the women\u2019s side of the competition, while Florida\u2019s Sarah Close came in second with a score of 369.10. Tennessee\u2019s Stacy Binyon took third with 368.80. <\/p>\n
Georgia will be back in action next week with a pair of dual meets at Texas. The women will battle on Jan. 11 at 3 p.m., while the men will take on the defending national champion Longhorns on Jan. 12 at 1 p.m.<\/p>\n
