Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia has received a full membership in NCAA Division II, including their men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. They compete in the Sun Coast Conference, which both teams won last year, and previously we a part of the NAIA. With their full membership in Division II, the teams are now eligible for post-season competition.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel College is pleased to announce that it has achieved full membership in the NCAA Division II.<\/p>\n
“We are delighted to share this news,” said Dr. Ron White, president of Emmanuel. “This concludes a very long and tedious process, but our athletic staff and coaches have performed admirably throughout. We are so happy to take our place in the NCAA.”<\/p>\n
For the past two years, Emmanuel has competed as a provisional member of Conference Carolinas. Full membership means the College is now eligible to compete in all conference, regional and national postseason play.<\/p>\n
“Our athletic staff and coaches have worked extremely hard over the past few years to develop their programs into competitive NCAA DII teams,” said Emmanuel Athletic Director, Nate Moorman. “We’re excited about the future of Emmanuel Athletics and anxiously awaiting the opportunity to compete in post season championships.”<\/p>\n
Conference Carolinas has 12-member schools located throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee including Belmont Abbey College, King University, Southern Wesleyan University and North Greenville University.<\/p>\n
“Conference Carolinas’ members are thrilled to have Emmanuel College as a NCAA Division II and Conference Carolinas member,” said Conference Carolinas Commissioner, Dr. Alan Patterson.\u00a0\u00a0“Emmanuel has played Conference Carolinas regular season schedules for four years and is prepared to compete and succeed immediately.\u00a0 This is a perfect match of college and conference.”<\/p>\n
Since beginning the membership process, Emmanuel has had over 120 All-Americans and over 125 Academic All-Americans\/Scholar Athletes in their respective governing bodies while awaiting full NCAA DII membership. The Lions also led all Conference Carolinas members with 334 student-athletes represented on the Conference’s Fall 2017 Presidential Honor Roll.<\/p>\n
Dr. White remarked, “We have believed all along that our focus on athletes as students first blends well with the\u00a0Life in the Balance<\/em>focus of NCAA Division II.”\u00a0This balance, in which student-athletes are recognized for their academic success, athletics contributions, and campus and community involvement, is at the heart of the NCAA Division II philosophy.<\/p>\n
“So many people put their hearts and souls into making this possible for Emmanuel and all of our student athletes,” said Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Thomas Rosene. “We cannot wait to compete in the NCAA and with so many great schools in Conference Carolinas. This is the icing on the cake to so many amazing things that are happening at Emmanuel.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
