Tennessee added Davis Tarwater as a volunteer coach for the Volunteers' merged program. Tarwater earned a gold medal this summer at the 2012 London Olympics as a member of the 800 freestyle relay, and was a three-time NCAA champion as a collegiate swimmer at Michigan. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, another Olympic gold medalist Tyler McGill has been named as a volunteer assistant coach at Auburn University. <\/p>\n

“We are extremely fortunate to have Tyler join the staff,” Auburn head coach Brett Hawke said. “He is not only one of the fastest swimmers in the world, but he is also one of the most outstanding individuals you could ever meet. Tyler represents everything that is good about Auburn. He values family more than anything, is dedicated to excellence, and truly believes in leading by example. I have no doubt he will leave a valuable mark on our swimmers and divers.”<\/p>\n

Legendary Longhorn Ian Crocker, a five-time Olympic medalist, is currently working through the official paperwork to become a volunteer assistant coach with the Texas women's swimming squad. Nothing official has been released, but that information should be available in the coming days as Crocker clears NCAA compliance, one of the biggest hurdles in being attached to a collegiate coaching staff. <\/p>\n

Additionally, in other assistant coach news, Swimming World already announced Eugene Godsoe being hired by his alma mater Stanford as a volunteer assistant coach on the men's swimming staff<\/a>. <\/p>\n
