The 2018 Speedo Sectionals Series kicked off today in Jenks, Okla. Hosted by the Jenks Trojan Swim Club, the meet will run July 11-14 and is held at the Jenks Trojan Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n

Scarlet’s\u00a0Abigail Kilgallon\u00a0<\/strong>won the meet’s first event, knocking off almost three seconds from her seed time in the women’s 800 free. She posted a time of 8:52.91 for the win.<\/p>\n Also getting under the nine-minute mark was her teammate\u00a0Junseo Kim\u00a0<\/strong>in 8:55.26 and Missouri’s\u00a0Azra Avdic\u00a0<\/strong>in 8:58.45.<\/p>\n SwimTulsa’s\u00a0Liberty\u00a0<\/strong>Howell\u00a0<\/b>(9:01.10), Club Husker’s\u00a0Rachel Powers\u00a0<\/strong>(9:04.23), Kansas City Blazers’\u00a0Katherine Sullivan\u00a0<\/strong>(9:05.65),\u00a0Allison Bloebaum\u00a0<\/strong>(9:07.48) and Wichita’s\u00a0Katelyn Blattner\u00a0<\/strong>(9:11.71) finished in the top eight.<\/p>\n Missouri’s Giovanny Lima <\/strong>cruised to first in the men’s 800 free, winning the event by over six seconds. He won in a time of 8:17.59.<\/p>\n His teammate\u00a0Jacob Wielinski\u00a0<\/strong>was the runner-up in 8:23.97 while Scarlet’s\u00a0Kyle Iorizzo\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 8:25.87.<\/p>\n American Energy’s\u00a0Hunter Denison\u00a0<\/strong>(8:28.30), Missouri’s\u00a0Gustavo Gutierrex\u00a0<\/strong>(8:31.09), Jonesboro’s\u00a0Jack Little\u00a0<\/strong>(8:36.48), Scarlet’s\u00a0Jonathan Choi\u00a0<\/strong>(8:38.61) and Tsunami’s\u00a0Cameron Murphy\u00a0<\/strong>(8:42.19) rounded out the top eight.<\/p>\n Samantha Porter sprinted her way to first place in the women’s 100 free. She finished with a final time of 56.08 after posting a lifetime best 55.85 during prelims.<\/p>\n Wichita’s\u00a0Megan Keil\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 57.29 and North Shore’s\u00a0Maggie\u00a0Summit\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 57.39.<\/p>\n Huntsville’s\u00a0Kobie Melton\u00a0<\/strong>(57.48), Arkansas’\u00a0Kiera Michailoff-Russell\u00a0<\/strong>(57.66), Sullivan (58.89), Howell\u00a0(59.02) and Missouri’s\u00a0Sarah Thompson\u00a0<\/strong>(59.16) completed the top eight.<\/p>\n Flyers’\u00a0Samuel Heveroh\u00a0<\/strong>won a close men’s 100 free final, getting to the wall only four-tenths ahead of the runner-up. He won in a personal best time of 51.23.<\/p>\n Rockwood’s\u00a0Jack Dolan\u00a0<\/strong>took a close second in 51.29 while Missouri’s\u00a0Sam Coffman\u00a0<\/strong>finished third in 51.61.<\/p>\n Council Bluff’s\u00a0Jackson Allmon\u00a0<\/strong>(52.10), Flyers’\u00a0Carter Nelson\u00a0<\/strong>(52.68), Rockwood’s\u00a0Nicolas Wamsley\u00a0<\/strong>(52.71), Kansas City Blazers’\u00a0John Paul Hynes\u00a0<\/strong>(53.02) and Missouri’s\u00a0Jackson Kent\u00a0<\/strong>(53.61) finished fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n Arkansas’\u00a0Madison Strathman\u00a0<\/strong>dropped nearly three seconds from her morning swim to take the women’s 200 breast crown. She got her hands to the wall in 2:33.07.<\/p>\n Second went to Club Husker’s\u00a0Gwendolyn Worlton\u00a0<\/strong>in 2:34.28 and Splash Club’s\u00a0Haley Downey\u00a0<\/strong>took a close third\u00a0in 2:34.36.<\/p>\n American Energy’s\u00a0Hanna Newby\u00a0<\/strong>(2:34.57), Splash Club’s\u00a0Katherine Steward\u00a0<\/strong>(2:36.66), Greater Nebraska’s\u00a0Caroline Theil\u00a0<\/strong>(2:37.08), Arkansas’\u00a0Sydney Angell\u00a0<\/strong>(2:38.84) and Columbia’s\u00a0Nicole Williams\u00a0<\/strong>(2:39.75) rounded out the A final.<\/p>\n Greater Omaha’s\u00a0Conner Funke\u00a0<\/strong>shaved off three seconds from his morning swim to win the men’s 200 breast. He used consistent splits to touch the wall in 2:20.95 for the win.<\/p>\n Sappy County’s\u00a0Luke Barr\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 2:21.78 while Wichita’s\u00a0Benjamin Patton\u00a0<\/strong>and Missouri’s\u00a0Nick Staver\u00a0<\/strong>tied for third with a time of 2:23.23.<\/p>\n Missouri’s\u00a0Ryan Geheb\u00a0<\/strong>(2:24.11), Topeka’s\u00a0Tarrin Fisher\u00a0<\/strong>(2:24.71), Columbia’s\u00a0Zachary Lorson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:24.93) and Empire’s\u00a0Daniel Worth\u00a0<\/strong>(2:26.19) completed the top flight.<\/p>\n Missouri’s Amanda Smith\u00a0<\/strong>held consistent splits to earn the goal in the women’s 200 back. She stopped the clock in 2:16.26 for the title.<\/p>\n Her teammate\u00a0Samantha Wilts\u00a0<\/strong>grabbed the silver in 2:17.97 and Club Husker’s\u00a0Anna McDonald\u00a0<\/strong>got the bronze in 2:18.22.<\/p>\n The Aquakids’\u00a0Allie Rogers\u00a0<\/strong>(2:19.79), Arkansas’\u00a0Madison Umberger\u00a0<\/strong>(2:21.10), Club Husker’s Jessica Pentlarge\u00a0<\/strong>(2:21.22), Club Husker’s Morgan McCafferty\u00a0<\/strong>(2:21.38) and Kilgallon (2:23.41) finished fourth through eighth.<\/p>\n Missouri’s\u00a0Daniel Hein\u00a0<\/strong>won the men’s 200 back in 2:03.21, knocking off over a full second from his morning time to earn the title.<\/p>\n Lincoln Select’s\u00a0Brennan Balogh\u00a0<\/strong>took second in 2:04.06 and Missouri’s\u00a0Grffin Schaetzle\u00a0<\/strong>was third in 2:04.65.<\/p>\n Kansas City Blazers’\u00a0Kevin Glenn\u00a0<\/strong>(2:08.26), Sarpy County’s\u00a0Mateo Miceli\u00a0<\/strong>(2:08.81), Patton (2:08.83), Elkhorn’s\u00a0Ryan Patterson\u00a0<\/strong>(2:08.99) and Arkansas Dolphins’\u00a0Thomas Heye\u00a0<\/strong>(2:10.66) completed the top heat.<\/p>\n Not too long after finishing sixth in the women’s 200 breast, Their was back in the water to win the women’s 50 fly. She won the event in 27.80 as the only swimmer under the 28-second mark.<\/p>\n Parkway’s\u00a0Karisa Franz\u00a0<\/strong>was second in 28.09 and\u00a0Melton was third in 28.27.<\/p>\n Fourth through eighth went to Rec Plex’s\u00a0Autumn Looney\u00a0<\/strong>(28.31), Keil (28.34), Michailoff-Russell (28.35), Rockwood’s\u00a0Anna Miller\u00a0<\/strong>(28.41) and Arkansas’\u00a0Sarah Chambliss\u00a0<\/strong>(28.47).<\/p>\n Missouri State’s\u00a0Paul Le\u00a0<\/strong>powered his way to a win in the night’s final individual event. He won with a time of 24.20.<\/p>\n Second place went to Greater Omaha’s\u00a0Colin Lafave\u00a0<\/strong>in 24.78 and third place went to Enid’s\u00a0Jason Schroeder\u00a0<\/strong>in 24.93.<\/p>\n Sooner’s\u00a0Aiden Hayes\u00a0<\/strong>(24.97), Enid’s\u00a0Micah Chambers\u00a0<\/strong>(25.57), Wamsley (25.74), Parkway’s\u00a0Barclay Dale\u00a0<\/strong>(25.78) and American Energy’s\u00a0William Ingram\u00a0<\/strong>(25.93) rounded out the A final.<\/p>\n The Arkansas quartet of Umberger (31.40), Strathman (31.62), Chambliss (28.37) and Michailoff-Russell (25.90) combined to win the women’s 4×50 medley relay in a swift 1:57.29.<\/p>\n Club Husker was second in 1:58.31 and Springfield was third in 2:00.02.<\/p>\n Flyers’ Trevor Halliburton<\/strong> (27.25),\u00a0Collin O’Brien\u00a0<\/strong>(29.45), Nelson (26.21) and Heveroh (22.83)<\/p>\n Greater Omaha was second in 1:45.89 and Rockwood was third in 1:46.64.<\/p>\n Prelims for the second day of competition will begin Thursday at 9:00 a.m. CDT.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The 2018 Speedo Sectionals Series kicked off today in Jenks, Okla.
