The United States junior women will kick off a defense of their 2017 title tomorrow, also against Puerto Rico. On the boy\u2019s side, at 6 p.m. today Team USA will open its title defense today against Brazil, who it beat 6-5 in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/sports\/m-youth\/recaps\/070817aaa.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">last year\u2019s<\/a> championship match. Canada&#8217;s and Brazil&#8217;s men are also expected to advance; this tournament is therefore a chance for a team from Argentina, Barbados, Columbia, or Peru to advance. Photo Courtesy: USA Water Polo<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Matches on July 14 and 15\u2014which will include the men\u2019s and women\u2019s semifinals as well as Sunday\u2019s championship matches\u2014will be streamed live on <strong>Facebook<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/USAWP\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook.com\/USAWP<\/a>) and <strong>YouTube<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/usawp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">YouTube.com\/USAWP<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>As is to be expected, the majority of players for the U.S. hail from California. 13 boys coached by Head Coach <strong>Trent Calder<\/strong> are in Clearwater, while <strong>Kristin Rodriguez<\/strong> is the Head Coach of a baker\u2019s dozen U.S. girls. Only one girl\u2014<strong>Paola Dominguez-Castro<\/strong>\u00a0who last May led Hialeah High School to its first-ever girls&#8217; water polo title\u2014and a single boy\u2014<strong>Kent Emden<\/strong> of West Suburban Water Polo Club of Naperville, IL\u2014are not from the West Coast.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the tournament, USA Water polo is taking this opportunity to promote its newly revised <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/programs\/splashball.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Splashball<\/a> program.
