{"id":318304,"date":"2018-07-10T08:00:06","date_gmt":"2018-07-10T15:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=318304"},"modified":"2018-07-10T06:21:22","modified_gmt":"2018-07-10T13:21:22","slug":"bonnet-completes-freestyle-triple-at-2018-french-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bonnet-completes-freestyle-triple-at-2018-french-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Bonnet Completes Freestyle Triple At 2018 French Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The 2018 French Open took place in Chartres over the weekend, and some of France and around the world took the opportunity to continue to get some fast racing in ahead of the European Championships in August. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/results\/2018-french-open\/international-elite\/2018\/July\/7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2018 French Open &#8211; Results<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">French Olympian <\/span><b>Charlotte Bonnet <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">had a busy weekend, earning wins in the 50 free (24.66), 100 free (53.34), and 200 free (1:56.59). While her 100 and 200 times were a bit off of her season bests, which stand at 52.74 and 1:55.53, her time in the 50 was a personal best, dropping about a tenth from her time at French Nationals in May.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">France\u2019s <\/span><b>Maria Watell <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also record a win in the women\u2019s 100 fly (58.13), while countrymate <\/span><b>Mehdy Metella <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">did the same in the men\u2019s event, clocking a 52.02. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brazilian <\/span><b>Bruno Fratus <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recorded another sub-22 win in the men\u2019s 50 free to continue to cement his title as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/bruno-fratus-passes-cielo-to-register-most-sub-22-swims-in-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">most consistent sprinter in history<\/a>. He won the event in 21.90 over newly minted world record holder <\/span><b>Andriy Govorov<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, who was second in 22.11. Govorov did win the 50 fly in 22.73, about a half second off of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/andriy-govorov-smashes-world-record-in-50-fly-at-sette-colli\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">his recent record<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the Sette Colli Trophy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other notable swimmers at the meet included a strong contingent from Japan. Olympic gold medalist <\/span><b>Kosuke Hagino <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won the men\u2019s 400 IM in 4:13.60, while <\/span><b>Yui Ohashi <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">won the 200 (2:11.65) and 400 (4:36.26) IM\u2019s. Breaststroker <\/span><b>Reona Aoki <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">also won the 100 and 200 breast in 1:06.61 and 2:25.01.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2018
