{"id":317557,"date":"2018-07-06T16:05:32","date_gmt":"2018-07-06T23:05:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=317557"},"modified":"2018-07-06T17:55:02","modified_gmt":"2018-07-07T00:55:02","slug":"leah-smith-swims-worlds-fourth-fastest-400-free-in-columbus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/leah-smith-swims-worlds-fourth-fastest-400-free-in-columbus\/","title":{"rendered":"Leah Smith Swims World&#8217;s Fourth-Fastest 400 Free in Columbus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After some fast swims in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/kristel-kobrich-anton-ipsen-claim-1500-titles-at-columbus-pro-swim-series\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1500 on night one<\/a>, the second finals session of the 2018 TYR Pro Swim Series from Columbus, Ohio will feature the 100 Fly, 400 Free, 200 Breast and 100 Free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Andrew\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>Margo Geer <\/strong>led the way this morning after posting the fourth fastest 100 Free times by Americans in 2018.\u00a0<strong>Kelsi Dahlia<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Leah Smith<\/strong>, <strong>Felix Auboeck<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Justin Ress<\/strong>, all familiar names to the TYR Pro Swim Series circuit, earned top seeds in the 100 Fly, 400 Free and 100 Free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Annie Lazor<\/strong> and Lousiville&#8217;s <strong>Evgenii Somov\u00a0<\/strong>posted the top times in the 200 breaststroke but will have heavy challenges from the likes of <strong>Lilly King<\/strong>, <strong>Chase Kalisz<\/strong>, <strong>Reece Whitley<\/strong> and more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/results\/pdf\/2018-tyr-pro-swim-series-columbus-day-2-finals-heat-sheet-day-2-usa-senior-national-2018-07-06.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heat Sheet<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.swmeets.com\/Realtime\/Pro%20Series\/2018\/Columbus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Live Results<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usaswimming.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stream<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Women&#8217;s 400 Free<\/h3>\n<p>No stranger to TYR Pro Swim Series domination, Leah Smith crushed the competition in the women&#8217;s 400 Free final. Her time of 4:04.23 is a season best, improving on her fourth-place world ranking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cierra Runge<\/strong> also posted her best 400 of the season, dropping a 4:08.99 to move from tenth to seventh in the American rankings. Veteran <strong>Allison Schmitt<\/strong> was not far behind in 4:09.27, also moving up two spots. Boilermaker <strong>Kaersten Meitz<\/strong> finished just after in 4:09.32. The swim was also a season best and keeps her in the top ten of these ranks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rose Bi<\/strong> led the remaining swimmers in 4:12.43.
